Champions League Draw: 2022/23 Season

Just had a look at the possible opponents for us in the next round.... going to be a difficult game, I don't think there are any "easy" teams for us to hope to get.

Let's hope,  come the knockout stages,  these clubs will be thinking that we don't fancy facing liverpool

It's gonna be Porto, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain or Benfia.

This is absolutely true, I suspect we are the one team the group winners do not want to face in the last 16.

I'd hope we don't draw Munich or PSG myself.

PSG could be knocked down to second if they drop points at Juventus (who need points to get into the Europa League) and Benfica beat Maccabi Haifa.

Real could also drop down to second but would need to drop points at home to Celtic which is unlikely.

Porto our best bet at the moment I would say but then again we might be a completely different team by the time the knockouts come round.

Exactly, despite our poor domestic form we seem to be doing the business in UCL and we could be (finger crossed form improves and a new player or two) different team by the time February rolls back around.

Given our luck last year with easy draw I think we will get one of Bayern, Real or PSG (assuming they get first)

Anyone of those with the exception of PSG, don’t want them Cnuts until the final, RM, BM or Leipzig will be a good test, Porto whilst not easy you’d expect to get the better of them home & away, personally I’d like it to be Bayern, 1, so we can say a proper fare thee well to Mane, 2, Mane will be like a shrinking violet against us so therefore would make them slightly weaker, also Jürgen has their number, Bayern Munich for me, with Porto providing a simpler route to the Q’s.

Agreed. Player to player when we have a fit squad I think we’re stronger than them too but it could be a bit of a mental block against them now. They’re a bit like us where they just have something special in European games.

Have a feeling we will get benfica but to be honest once it goes to knock out I couldn’t give a sh*t anyway. Got to play the big boys at some point.

I’m like you H, when it comes to the KO stage others will fear facing us and have the same trepidation as we have of facing say PSG or indeed RM even in their somewhat diluted state, however, after the WC, I think we will be a completely different animal,
IF, we have our big guns back fit & healthy and accustomed to the 4-2-3-1 I believe we’ll take some stopping,
Imagine facing, Mo, Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Thiago, Firmino, Elliot in any combination it won’t surprise anyone to hear a collective “Oh F**k” from any of our potential opponents,

Seems fate that LFC will have to face Mané.

Porto or Benfica please. No posturing and no need for drama.

But, by the time we play these games, I am sure that our fortunes and form would have reversed and we would be the team that we saw last year.
