On the positive side, if we do them, 2 of Bayern, PSG, Madrid would have been knocked out in the quarters and it really gives a favourable route to Istanbul with only Napoli and City posing any great threat to the other teams.

Got to beat these top teams if we want to win it

And over two legs gives us a better chance

Gotta beat a side like this at some point in the competition, let’s get it done early.

3-1 win at Anfield, 2-1 loss at Bernabeu would be my guess… you know how we like to make a drama of it.

I felt that way when we played them during covid - still fu**ed us.

The only positive I can take is that we are a due a win against them, surely

100% ,recon we would have met them at some point anyway so I’d rather we play them

Well we have to assess our chances closer to the fixture. On current form it would be very difficult but it's February so I'll wait and see how we are going in January.

La Liga is off till 31 December so they will restart albeit against much weaker teams than we'll get in the Prem. We are back on 26th December V Aston Villa.

Like the toss of a coin the resulting outcome is 50/50. Like a coin toss, the preceding result has no bearing on the next outcome. The odds remain the same....50/50. That's not to say betting on Real Madrid to beat Liverpool 3 times in a row is 50/50...it isn't...or should I say wasn't.

Sporting contest aren't random events as you know so the law of averages plays only a very small role. It will only happen because we make it happen.

I doubt Jota will be back for Madrid. Sounded a serious injury and march has been whispered.

If we play like we can then we can beat them. If we play like we did against forest we will be thumped.

I’m hoping after the World Cup we will have a lot more confidence and form.

      We will see.

I'm happy with this draw for a number of reasons.

      • We owe them a bit of revenge -- the players and fans will all be up for this!!
      • We would have to beat them (or a couple of other top quality sides) to win the trophy, so we might as well start early
      • If our form doesn't improve significantly after the WC then we likely won't be winning the CL regardless of who we get in the 1st round.  At least if we get beaten in the round of 16 (rather than the semi's or the final) then it may make it easier for us to focus on the league games and push for top 4 to maintain CL spot for next season as we rebuild

Better to face them over two legs to be honest. If we get back to our level, we can beat these.
