A lot on eyes were on that battle tonight, a lot of talk whether he'd be strong enough and stand up tall. He defended the perfect game, stood off and never dived in....Mbappe never went past him, his starting position was very smart all Mbappe could do was cut inside where he was smothered by a mix of Grav/Mac and Ibou.

Of course he can defend, shut out Martinelli in the FA cup when he was one of the inform wingers in the league but his game is based on energy and flying forward. He really is the Irish Robbo, maybe not as solid defensively (yet)....still a lot of time to develop but I think he does the skipping inside work better.

Not ideal but not the worst news ever, more concerned on the extent of Ibou.

Who knows, maybe this'll force the hands of the club to be pro-active.

      "return to action this month"

Might as well have said "this year".... As broad as it is wide...
If Bradley and Konate aren't at least on the bench this Sunday, they can take a running jump. Almost 6 weeks out, soft arses!

And yet still not on par with Jota's lay off timeframes

Thank god this kid is back. I thought he did well in his cameo. Showed the aggressive no nonsense defending we actually needed for this type of game and came pretty close with that shot near post at the end.

Still wish he pulled it back for Jota to slot it. But was worth trying to catch keeper off guard.

Not sure. He could just about manage 10 minutes yesterday otherwise he would have been on sooner. Maybe a bit longer in this.

Main goal with these league cup (and fa cup) games is getting players right for the league. The result is secondary.

Bradley is crucial for the league so need to be careful with using him in these games. Konate could do with a small number of minutes in this and the weekend game, Dom too having missed the last couple of games. Treat cup games as league warms ups.

And if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

Smarter play was probably to pull it back for Mo (or others)

Freeze the video at the 4/5 second mark as he is in the box and makes contact. There's no way a pass reaches Salah as there are 3 United players between the ball and Salah who can easily stick a leg out and a 4th by the far post who can also step up easily to defend it.

Robertson is closest to Bradley, but has a player marking him and a pass would be on his right foot, which we know is useless.

Then there's Jota open by the penalty dot, but getting a shot through on goal is difficult with so many players in front of him who can block it.

It was smart play, he judged the gap the keeper was leaving on that side of the goal

Can only heap more praise on the guy. His energy and enthusiasm is a massive position to the way we want to play.

Him and Kerkez as our fullbacks for the next 7-8 years? Absolutely.

Had no worries when bradders came on today. Lad is still learning ... still a young boy but his quality is clear as day. He's got everything.
