Keita and Ox not in the CL squad.

Wouldn’t be surprised if neither play for the club again.

I don't think signing him was the mistake, more that we should have got rid a year or two ago.

      I agree.

Think is more than just an injury.

So much promise with him that never really had truly got fulfilled

Don't think he can be described as a terrible signing , he hasn't lived up to the hype that surrounded him before he arrived

Me thinks there’s more to it than that in regards to Naby lad, which makes his situation that much more interesting because it’s not like you are going to get much for him in January when he can just sign a pre contract agreement with anyone. Do you give him a new contract then? We’ll see what Jürgen decides to do.

Is that to go with the illness as well.

Might as well F**k him off now as a lost cause.

Agree, even if we can’t get a fee for him, at least he’s off the wage bill. Never got even 50% of what was expected !

Based on this website, https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php, we have 8 players out which is the highest, and 5 of whom do not have a return date. Unsure if this site is accurate, but this is what it says.

Goalkeepers: Alisson Becker, Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher. Defenders: Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Calvin Ramsay, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Nat Phillips, Trent Alexander-Arnold. Midfielders: Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Fabio Carvalho, Arthur, Stefan Bajcetic: Forwards: Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez.

Selected 'B list' players: Harvey Davies, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Luke Chambers, Isaac Mabaya.

Given the CL squad announcement it would appear it's just a matter of the clock ticking down at the club for Ox and Keita.
A shame because without injuries the quality has been there but it just hasn't worked out for them.

It creates a problem for the club because they were the mid 20s category for the midfield and them being constantly unavailable
has put a massive hole in the squad.

We’re unbelievably vague around injuries aren’t we?

Keita is another one who I haven’t got a clue about.

Liverpool just don't have players in their peak average years that aren't always injured.

Keita (27) and Ox (29) were the only players signed that are close to this player profile.
With Arthur signed Liverpool have 3 - Keita, Ox and Arthur.
Before Arthur was signed Liverpool had zero players in that age group fit and available.

Take Peak Average to be in the window of 25 - 29 years old.
The keep the team from going stagnant then younger players (20 - 24 need to be coming through)

Curtis Jones - 21 (Cursed with injuries lately)
      Fabio Carvalho - 20
Harvey Elliott - 19 (Added here because he's a nailed on started at the moment)

Compare that to Premier League rivals.

      Manchester City:
      Rodri - 26
      Phillips - 26
      Silva - 28
(Foden at 22 is soon to come into his peak years)

      Chelsea:
      Zakaria - 25
      Kovacic - 28
      Loftus-Cheek - 26
      Ziyech - 29
(Havertz at 23 is soon to come into his peak years)
(Mount at 23 is soon to come into his peak years)

      Manchester United:
      McTominay - 25
      van de Beek - 25
      Fred - 29
      Fernandes - 27

      Spurs
      Hojbjerg - 27
      Bissouma - 26
      Bentancur - 25

      Arsenal
      Partey - 29
      Xhaka - 29
(Odegaard at 23 is soon to come into his peak years)

The injuries to Ox and Keita have created a "Peak Years Midfielder"
      sized hole in the midfield.

It looks like Liverpool need two midfielders in the summer.
      One circa 26 years old.
And one circa 22 - 24 years old.

With the latter case it seems the club will look for
Jones, Carvalho and Elliott to fill that area.

Injuries have repeatedly devastated the squad.
CB previously - Which was addressed.
Now CM - Arthur might help short term,
but long term the club needs viable solutions.

When you look at the City and Chelsea squads
you see why clubs like them tend to dominate.
Players to win now, Elite players in their early 30s,
and young players just about to hit their prime.

That's what 100s of Millions of investment per season gets.
And presumably why Liverpool have tried to do it differently.
Hopefully Klopp looks after Elliott better than the likes of
Owen and Torres were in the past.
