Mentioned a couple of these in their respective player threads but quite a few lads with Liverpool connections had outings in the first round. (may well of missed a few)
Goalscorers;
Conor Bradley (currently on loan from us) scored a screamer for Bolton in their 5-1 win over Salford. And Cameron Brannagan scored a late equaliser for Oxford against Swansea before scoring the winning penalty to send his boys through - Joe Allen came off the bench and alsomscored in the shootout in his first appearance since returning to the Swans.
Victors;
Ben Woodburn got his first start for Preston since his summer move in their first round win over Huddersfield. Adam Lewis was part of the Newport side that beat Luton 3-2. Tyler Morton (currently on loan from us) played the full 90 minutes for Blackburn as they won 4-0 over Jeff Stelling's beloved Hartlepool and it was from his corner which Rovers scored their opener, former Red Danny Ayala remained on the Blackburn bench all game. Lee Peltier and his Rotherham side won 2-1 as they overcame Port Vale at Vale Park.
Losers;
Rhys Williams (on loan from us) was an unused substitute for Blackpool as they went out on pens to Barrow. Sheyi Ojo did make it off the bench in a losing effort as his Cardiff side took a pasting 3-0 off Portsmouth. Lawrence Vigouroux was in goal as his Leyton Orient side went out 2-0 to Forest Green. And Rhian Brewster failed to find the net as his Sheffield United side went out to Championship rivals West Brom in the final game of the first round.
Managers;
Mark Kennedy's Lincoln picked up a comfortable win over Doncaster in the first round, booking a second round tie with Barrow. On the flip side though, Paul Ince and son Tom (unused sub) went out as Stevenage defeated their Reading side 2-1 - Dean Bouzanis made his debut in goal for the Royals as well.
Some connection;
Carra's kid, James, was in the Wigan side that lost to Fleetwood.
