My biggest concern with these first two matches has been the lack of sharpness. The quality of the passing, first touches and off the ball work, while still high, has not been up to the standard of the past few seasons. The team will still fight, but other teams can fight. It was our quality that set us apart from nearly every other team in the world. That hasn't been the case these first two league matches.
I think it is least in part due to the abbreviated preseason training setup (due to the World Cup but also our tour)> Sure it is the same for everyone, but I think Jürgen's system and culture rely more on a proper amount of dedicated and focused training. This impacts fitness, cohesion and sharpness. I think this is why Jürgen is so adamant that we don't need to buy anybody else. For him it's about developing the players we already have.
Our injury situation could cause a rethink from club management with that, but as I say, it's the lack of sharpness that really concerns me.
