Pre-Match: Liverpool vs Bournemouth, EPL Sat 27 Aug; KO 3pm.

I don't usually do pre-match threads, but as the last 3 games have resulted in not ideal performances and even worse results, what the hell.

Bournemouth are 1 position above us, like what the actual dickins is that all about, so this is a definite must win game.

Injuries and a suspension, (shakes head in disbelief) has really set the cat amongst the pigeons with team selection and any rotation that Klopp can consider.

      Some states:
      • Liverpool have won their past six Premier League games against Bournemouth by an aggregate score of 19-1.

Bournemouth have lost seven of their eight matches at Anfield - the exception being a 2-2 draw in the Premier League in April 2017.

Jürgen Klopp's side are yet to win in the league in 2022-23. They last started a season more slowly in 2012-13, when they failed to win any of their opening five opening five games.

Cherries boss Scott Parker was the last opposing manager to win a Premier League game against Liverpool at Anfield, with his Fulham side in March 2021

Here is the "Inside Anfield" video of the last time we met, I think, and very annoyingly we concede a goal 1st again!

A 3pm KO may be just what the doctor should prescribe, weather should be cooler and maybe a bit of rain too.

Assuming none of the injured lads are back I'd like to see us go with a 4-2-3-1 for this.

Ali; Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robbo; Fabinho, Henderson; Elliott, Carvalho, Diaz; Salah.

I'd drop Trent and play Robbo on the right. When they switch positions sometimes, after a corner, he plays there for up to five minutes and does a good job of it too.

      I'd go 4231

Ali, Tsimiskas, Gomez, VVD, Robbo, Hendo, Fab, Elliot right, Carvalho centre, Diaz left and Salah through the middle

Think Carvalho must be in his thoughts for this one . Crowd need to be on their game also we need a lift . Any win will do. Milner or Hendo to go for Fab

I suspect there will be calls for Carvalho to feature until ...

He features and fails to make a difference. Think the plan was for him to grow into this level over the course of the season, but injuries have pushed him onto the park. He has potential, but not sure he is at the required level yet.

No different than starting Elliott for me. Both probably shouldn't be starting but our hand forced. Think he will be on bench to impact later if required

It'll come as no surprise anyone who's read my posts recently that I'd want a formation change for this one.

      Allison

      Trent     Gomez     Virgil     Roberson

      Fabinho      Bajcetic

      Elliott         Diaz     Carvalho

      Salah

I've changed my mind slightly and wouldn't mind seeing Diaz work the centre close with Salah and also puts less pressure on Fabio coming in who can work from the left.

I'd give the kid a chance in CM alongside Fabinho as well.

      NB: Team no longer available

I would drop Firmino and Milner because both are only good for the last 20 minutes of the game but who am I compared to Klopp.

We need the fans to show this team the deserved support.

Let's make it difficult for our players to reduce intensity.

With the games starting to come thick and fast now under better circumstances we would rotate a couple key players out to given the quality of opponent but the fact we desperately need a win not just for the point to get some positive vibes around the team I expect Klopp to play his best avaliable (or close).

Some lass is bossing it on the violin in the city centre at the moment. But for the topic at hand - Got my tickets for this, first of many home games this season hopefully. Hopefully back to winning ways too.

Elliott and Carvalho both have to start IMO

Reading through the posts here and it seems everyone is in agreement that Firmino needs to be dropped.  Which basically leaves us with 4 players -- Diaz, Mo, Elliot, and Carvalho -- who can play in a front 3 or front 4.  So, depending on who you pick in midfield (and most seem to want Milner dropped) then we have very limited options.  I'd personally go for the team Chats has called out as I think it's our best blend of youth + experience while putting our best available players in their best positions.

Assuming none of the injured lads are back I'd like to see us go with a 4-2-3-1 for this.

Ali; Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robbo; Fabinho, Henderson; Elliott, Carvalho, Diaz; Salah.

I'm not feeling terribly optimistic about this after 3 dhite performances in a row, but it has to improve soon doesn't it ???

I'd be approaching this game a bit like Utd did ours.
If nothing else, be competitive, aggressive, close people down, show desire and get stuck in.
And hope players can find a bit of form.
Couldn't have picked a better next game, at home to these.
      Hoping for a bounce back.
But if I was Bournemouth, I'd be thinking lets get at these, put them under pressure, get the crowd nervous.
Just get the 3 points, please...

cant ever remember having the jitters about a team like Bournemouth coming to Anfield but the thoughts of another defeat or even a draw are  just the thing of nightmares. Can't believe in anything other than a big win I want to see the hunger back that Teams just cant live with

Going for a narrow 2 1 win for the Reds at home, tomorrow afternoon, in a must win game. Certainly must look for an early goal, and defend better than we have done in recent games !

Let's f**king show the league we are still to be feared! 4-0 Redmen.

                                                              Ali

                                        Trent      Gomez     VVD    Tsimikas

                                                              Fab
                                              Hendo                   Carvalho

                                        Elliot              Salah           Diaz

I do not want to see Milner anywhere near our starting midfield. I think we have nothing to lose starting Carvalho ahead of him and we need something a bit different up top so to allow Salah to get in the middle and the wide players to remain inverted in terms of strongest foot I would have Elliot down the right. Have dropped Robertson, if we had Matip or Konate available I would have dropped Trent also to have Gomez RB.

I just pray we do not see a Milly & Hendo midfield.

Start fast and score quickly and get the confidence flowing, let's go redmen!

For me, it's more about seeing something different up top, Salah through the middle I think will give us something different and only help those around him.

If Salah is up too through the middle then imo we need someone like Carvahlo behind him to fill the gap back to the midfield
