As  with Bournemouth, we're playing a team above us in the league, this time the the money rich Saudi acquired asset that is Newcastle Utd. lets hope we can do the deed again.

Word on the street is that none of the missing players will be fit for this mid-week game, and neither will Nunez, who will be completing his three-game suspension.

Here's the link to last years encounter from the offal, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOs8x2B9F0g

      Random stats from the Beeb.

      Head-to-head
Liverpool are unbeaten in 26 Premier League home games against Newcastle (W21, D5) since a 2-0 loss at Anfield in April 1994. The Reds have scored in all 26 of these matches.
The Magpies beat the Reds 2-0 at St James' Park in December 2015 but are winless in the subsequent 11 league fixtures (D4, L7).
Liverpool have scored 109 Premier League goals versus Newcastle, more than against any other opponent.

      Liverpool

Liverpool have won 10 of their previous 11 midweek league games, winning the last six by an aggregate score of 18-2.
Roberto Firmino was directly involved in five goals in Liverpool's 9-0 win versus Bournemouth, scoring two and assisting three - more goal involvements than in his previous 16 league matches combined.
Firmino is one of only five players to have assisted three goals in two different Premier League fixtures, emulating Eyal Berkovic, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Dusan Tadic.
Luis Diaz has scored six goals in his first 10 top-flight games at Anfield - the only Liverpool player to score more in their first 10 Premier League home appearances is Fernando Torres in 2007-08.

      Newcastle United
The last time Newcastle avoided defeat in each of their opening four Premier League matches was the 2011-12 season, when their unbeaten start eventually extended to 11 fixtures.
The Magpies have won their last two Premier League games on a Wednesday, having won just one of their previous 24 such matches (D5, L18).
Eddie Howe has lost eight consecutive league fixtures against Liverpool since a 2-2 draw at Anfield with Bournemouth in April 2017. Only Gary Megson, between 1995 and 2009, has ever lost nine consecutive Premier League matches against Liverpool as a manager.
Newcastle have drawn the last six games that Allan Saint-Maximin has scored in - it is the first time in Premier League history that any player has drawn six consecutive fixtures in which they scored.

I actually think we will win this one rather handily. Got some mojo back, and Klopp will keep his foot down. Should come out strong and push them around.

Interesting game, coming off a 9-0 thumping. St Max fancies himself so have to watch him. Jonjo is injured. Trippier is a annoying big head. Alimiron is a hit & miss player, mostly miss. Don't know if they have registered Isak on time, after paying £63m for him.

I'd put Newcastle in the same boat as Everton. Two clubs that are a poisoned chalice, and I'm not convinced Howe will get them in the top 4 anytime soon.

Elliott picked up a knock..was going to play Fabio anyway. Rumour has it Tielemans might be a target before the window slams shut. Not for me. Boss has said we don't sign players on a whim or one that won't improve on what we have, so that leaves Tielemans out.

But one or two more injuries and the Boss might be tempted to sign something half decent.

Simply make it two home wins on the trot, to start an unbeaten run. After Saturday's result the Reds should be full of confidence. Maybe Salah will get his mojo back by scoring a couple of goals !

We'll learn a lot more of where we really are after this game and the derby on Saturday. Everton will be a real scrap and Newcastle really took the game the game to City at times last weekend.

Got to be careful of Saint-Maximin if he plays, he's got the exact skillset that hurts us.

I'd go same again for us in terms of the starting XI, Carvalho for Elliott though if he's injured.

Tricky fixture, Toon have not lost a game yet this season and Eddie Howe picked up where they left off last season.

As far as lineup would keep it the same as last game. I know some point soon we will have to rotate but it would be nice to keep the positive mojo going after thrashing Bouremouth then hopefully have few more bodies back for next week.

Same team again, unless Wee harvey is injured as suggested.

At least bench will be stronger with Jones & matip back training.

New signing Isek waiting for work permit. Newcastle apparently have up to 45 minutes before kickoff to decide on including.him in squad.

Fab and Hendo will need to be on song for this.

but will they be fit enough to be named in the squad? either way, this team is good enough to win against Newcastle and that should be the end result.

The good news is that they are struggling a bit in the injury front too. Guimares is evidently still out, called Wilson too and fingers crossed St Maximim will miss out with hammy he pulled slightly on Sunday. They will have Issak their new striker in the squad though.

Hopefully the lads can come out firing again and get after them right from the off. Our lads have had an extra day so need to make it count.

I'm telling you....that guy pulls up lame at the end of every single game I've watched him play (at least a few). It's his MO. He'll be starting.
