Yeah, he seems to have forgotten the same c**t was responsible for clattering carvalho in a similar fashion when the ball was 6 yards away. That was just payback from VVD.

I know its intentional to how we play but it would be nice for once to see one of our midfielders to make a run into the box or at least run forward and create space for others. Seems like every team in the league apart from us has a midfielder who gives that option.

Or take a shot from range. The only player who used to do this is constantly injured (Ox).

      Our season starts again Napoli.

We seemed too lightweight in the middle with both Carvalho and Elliott in there. Would of left Fabio on the bench and played Milner. Possibly brought Carvalho on as an attacking option later in the game.

Yea. Think klopp was just using fresh legs tbh.

I hate fat frank as much as the next guy, but to be fair, any team would probably be calling that a red card and that includes us. Not saying it was worthy of a red, the still images obviously make it look much worse than it actually was and it was certainly no more than a yellow but reds have been given for those challenges before and it's probably one that VAR wouldn't overturn as well.

I agree, VVD was a lucky boy.

The more I reflect on the game the more I get frustrated - yes we hit the post 3 times but it just never really felt like we were going to score.

What I’m really worried about is just how vulnerable we look when defending, it’s almost as if it’s all happening in slow motion.

But everything slowed down or still looks worse, one of the reasons why VAR come to wrong decisions most of the time, in real time it happens too fast for the naked eye to comprehend what actually occurs, and that’s no bad thing, it simply acceptable as the pace of the game,

Slowing down tv footage is ok when used for the right reasons, like hand ball in the box or from a deflection that leads to a goal etc, but if two players go in 50-50 their going to collide, and if they slow down that footage, it will look horrendous, and it can be, but players know this, know the risk yet still go for it regardless, it’s called a ‘Contact’ sport for a reason, There Will Be Contact, Doh !!

This season we’ve seen how Refs seem to let a fair bit of the rough stuff go between the players, again this no bad thing, it actually helps the flow of the game and player’s just simply get on with it, I just wish the Refs would take a step further and not scrutinise everything, it’s not football in the park with the bin lids, this a professional full on contact sport where combatants know the risks involved,

With camera’s everywhere looking at everything that moves, retrospective decisions can be made on any incident during the 95+ minutes, in rugby league if a Ref deems a particular incident worthy of further review he will raise his arms crossed to indicate that incident or player as ‘on review’, with further action taken if necessary,

This would cut out those overly long VAR decisions we see far too often, remember VAR was brought in to help Refs out, help the game, but the way it is used in England isn’t exactly what it was designed for, therefore it actually makes it worse than before, Refs would make a decision right or wrong depending if it was for or against, and that would be it, most ppl accepted the decision and gave them something to debate over a few pints, sometimes things don’t need fixing and new fangled ways don’t always work, especially if there not used in the correct manner, or what they were designed for!!!

This year 2022 of games we have had at the roller coaster finish we had to almost win all 4 trophies. Personal that last game of the season against wolves and keeping tabs on the city game took 5 years off my life. Then some of the players had international games after the CL final. They look absolutely empty of ideas, speed, cohesion. Again just my opinion Z

You shouldn't have been keeping tabs on the other game at all. You knew how it was going to end, which it did.

We didn't have to win all 4 trophies. Obviously we gave it a go, but nobody has won 4 trophies before, and we were the latest to discover why. It still doesn't allow us to take the next year off. Whether you win or lose, you try again the next year.

      Quote from billythered
The debate that our players are f***in knackered has some legs, most have played over 200 games the last three seasons with scarce a long enough break in between, that has to have some kind of detrimental effect at some point, after all, irrespective of health and fitness, footballer’s are still human, just like the rest of us, and are not f***in robots you wind up at the start of the season and just let go !!

This is their job. They'll be long enough retired. Every team has to play lots and lots of games, competitions get ever bigger, calendars get ever busier. If you want to be the best, then like it or not, that's what you have to do. The rewards at the end of it, are worth all the time and effort. Plus, an away trip across the park isn't really going to test the fatigue factor very much.

      Quote from Longy-Shops
There is no point to football if you don't score goals. So the answer to LFC's current problem is score more goals. It is quite simply the only reason to play the game....you can't win if you don't score.

We've scored 15 goals already this season, an average of 2.5 per game. We scored 9 in one game alone. We hit the woodwork 3 times in this game, had about a dozen chances, but the ball just wouldn't go in. It happens, especially in that dump, it's usually the easiest 0-0 to predict in the season. The only time the ball did find it's way into the net, we needed VAR to bail us out. He looked well offside at the time before the replays were shown and he was, but if we didn't have VAR, that goal would have stood, we would have lost, and there would have been another 300 posts in this thread going over the same old arguments.

But as VAR came to the rescue, we just have to take the point and move on without losing any further ground. There is a 6 point gap after 6 games. It's not ideal but at least for now, it's very much retrievable. It's not like we're 14 points back with half the season gone, is it?
