Little taste of our issues once Rangers brought on some speed down the wings.

Not convinced the balance is right. At Ibrox if they go 4 at the back and Sacala wide and Colak central they can still get at us.

Thankfully GVB went defensively tonight and allowed us to dictate.

By that time we had gone back to the 433 with Jimmy and Harvey in midfield.

Good performance but should have scored a couple more goals, Darwin was good and should have scored a couple, Tsimikas and Henderson very good also,  Same next week redmen.

Nunez was better tonight but I think at times he was crowded out

he will be fine mate once he settles in get a bit of confidence. Imagine coming into a team  like Liverpool it must be so intimidating, and I liked his work ethic

Significant improvement over what we've seen over the last month or so. But, and it's a big but, Rangers were, and are bang average at best, in fact I'd say they're dire. Their keeper did well, but a lot of those were straight at him and basic physics tells us a solid object can't pass through another solid object. Job done without being vintage....As always It was all about getting the result...Baby steps forward.

A “professional” performance. Job done. We are still miles off our best but didn’t have to be against a very limited team with a goalkeeper who pulled off some great saves.

Trent was better scored a great goal but had a little more help tonight

Tonight didn't mean anything in the Trent defending debate. V Arsenal and City. Those two games will tell us if our defense is up to top 4 and challenge in the C/L.

just thinking back to the games against City and the likes where we could blow a team away in 20 mins and score 3 or 4 goals some performances like that would be welcome.

he had Hendo and Joel cover for him today so he wasnt exposed. He is never going to be a defensive full back and he has been at the very heart of our success these past few seasons so carry on Trent just do what you do best

A decent performance, the right side of the team looked a lot better with Hendo back in the team.

No exceptional performances but everyone played well. I think we will have to play better against Arsenal but it's a step in the right direction.

I really wish Klopp would bin his obsession with Milner, just give the likes of Bajcetic some experience ffs.

Yes he needs time but if you look at Haalands goals, most are tap in's meaning City are creating chances galore. Nunez needs service, but we have to remember we are not dominating as much as we have these last 3/4 seasons so it won't be easy for Nunez to score freely.

Without beimg too critical, we did not score in open play against Rangers, who are hardly decent opposition in the CL. Still at least keeping a clean sheet is something otherwise plenty of room for improvement in the fixtures ahead.

One player I struggle to define is Elliot, I don't know if he's great, or if he's ordinary. He gives the impression he's a very good footballer, industrious etc. but I'm left thinking what does he do? I genuinely can't figure him out.

I know what you're saying but we know Jota and Nunez are better finishers than what they showed tonight. They got good minutes and found some great positions. On another night  they score a few. Hopefully they build on this.

I'm most pleased about Hendo, tonight. The importance of him doing bits for us and protecting Trent are massively important for us this season. We ain't got anyone in the squad, who can do what he can, when he does it right.

We should have, but we haven't.

Definitely don't see the move to another formation such as 4-2-3-1 as a permanent switch, will only be used against certain opposition teams in certain games. Personally don't go along with the call to switch formation, just need to be better.

I am just not sure we've got the lads/legs that we have had in previous seasons to play as much with our previous system and formation as much, this season.

Meet your mate, to an extent.

Been saying this. Can see he's got loads of talent and is a great player but, I don't know what he is in a Klopp side.

Solid performance. Nunez showed what he is about and that this system actually worked.

We need to build on this performance.

Too easy in the end, but the 4-2-3-1 worked very well. Hopefully we play even better on sunday.
