Looks like we are going to loose one of the all time greats. I wish him well. and hope he is comfortable.

The Brazilian football great Pelé is receiving palliative care after he stopped responding to chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer, the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S Paulo has reported.

Pelé, 82, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday to re-evaluate his cancer treatment, according to medical reports.

According to Folha de S Paulo, the chemotherapy has now been suspended and Pelé is receiving end-of-life care, being treated only for symptoms such as pain and shortness of breath.

The Albert Einstein hospital in São Paulo declined to confirm reports that the football legend known as the The King is under palliative care and said it would only communicate through official bulletins. The latest medical report, released on Friday, said Pelé was being treated with antibiotics for a respiratory infection. His condition was “stable, with a general improvement in his health status”, the report said.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, until if and when I see anyone better, This man was the simply the best. The pictures he saw in his head of what it was possible to do on a football pitch were unique, he was the Michelangelo of football with the field of play his Sistine chapel.
You couldn't take your eyes off him when he played, he could do everything.
                                              RIP

Just got a text from my brother. F**k! RIP Pele! Absolute legend of the game. So sad as he was clearly suffering when you saw the photos of him in hospital. For all of my youth he was the player regarded as the greatest of all time and for a certain generation who grew up watching him there is no persuading otherwise.

No sad day at all. What do you expect? The dude got 82 years old, was THE player of the 70s, even avoided that slow death that sees old people develop backwards over years to potatos. Did almost everything right and can't be f*cked from here on. A winner.

These nasty comments confirm you are not right in the head. Regardless of the fact that we are honouring a legend of Our game, if you can't find anything nice to say when someone passes away then it's best you say nothing. Truly pathetic and an insult to the games finest.

The football world has lost a legend.

RIP Pele, you were the greatest.

Thousands of goals scored, multiple titles, a record of 3 world cups won, and people now tell us somebody else is better than him.

Amazing career on the pitch, impeccable behaviour off it, wonderful ambassador for the sport as well worldwide. He may be gone but he'll never be forgotten.

The world's first truly global superstar footballer.

Even though a miss the dummy around the keeper in the Uruguay game and shot past the post in the 1970 World Cup would of been one of the greatest goals seen.
