If anyone watched Ox today, this signing makes a lot of sense with Diaz out and Jota and Bobby unable to stay healthy.

Have to admit I was trying to watch him a bit at the WC having heard about him but not seen him play, and I wasn't hugely impressed. Hope I'm wrong! Given the Diaz and Jota injuries it does make sense. Possibly makes a new deal for Bobby less likely?

Didn't see that one coming. Would rather a CM but who could say no to strengthening in attack if the opportunity presents and with Jota and Diaz out. I suppose we must be confident he is the right fit given needs elsewhere in the squad.

Damn, I didn't see this one coming at all.  Wouldn't have expected us to pursue an attacker, but he seems like the "right profile" for an FSG signing -- young, talented, big upside, long term value, and relatively cheap compared to others of similar age and ability.  I'm excited to see how he fits in.

That's what my mate said about him, not on this forum, he said that he was their stand out player at the WC and looks good.

Got excited, came in here, read the first few coments and got deflated thinking we signed some dud.

Right age and profile.  Stats add up .Virgil would have been consulted and clearly can play in different positions . Sounds good to me

He’s a winger, his idol is Henry. Works his ass off and is apparently a humble guy off the pitch.

Klopp has obviously wanted to shore up our attacking options so this is fine by me. I doubt this has any effect on us signing Bellingham. Also, likely a target for the summer but with United’s interest we decided to move now much like the Diaz signing. Great, great news. 

At that price it’s an absolute steal in todays market, especially coming off a decent World Cup… great signing!

A good signing, typical of the majority of our buys in recent years. Approximately £40m, can play a few positions, young, good energy levels, bit of a shock with no leaks or significant rumours before it happens.

Only watched a little bit of him, looks good. I trust Klopp and the scouting staff (also VVD). We've had a couple of dodgy signings (Kieta and Ox) but they have been dodgy due to injuries that probably could not have been predicted.

I don't understand some of the negativity. I'd make a comparison to Mo and Diaz, how many of us thought they would make a big impact when they arrived for about £40m?

We still need a CM obviously but this signing is good for the squad depth for the rest of this season and the future.We will probably lose Kieta, Ox and Bobby in the summer so this adds another player to go with the younger generation.

Add Bellingham in the summer and the squad is looking good again with Bajcetic looking like he has a big future.

Exactly, I was impressed with this player in WC.

He was going to Utd, this was a neat and out of nowhere transfer.

I would play Darwin on the left, Gakpo central and the obviously Salah.

Where on earth did this come from? Thought he was Manc bound or staying...

I wonder if Jones is getting a bit worried about where he fits in going forward?
