He got F**k all service. Think Mo makes everybody else look bad cos he also got very little service but still got a goal and an assist. Mo still saw a bit more of the ball than Gakpo though, cos Bradley was giving him more help than Robbo was Gakpo.

Valid point about the service, and he did get kicked by a yard dog which the incompetent English official missed. Plus the 3 wingers set up helps nobody.

Just have reservations about him. Always have. Rob Gutmann on TAW was talking about him in the podcast before the game when they were choosing starting XIs, and similarly has reservations, preferring Diaz as he offers more on the ball. Just too quiet, not demanding or energetic enough. Great shot on him when he cuts in as I said, but doesn't do enough.

I've preferred Chiesa for the simple reason he gives his opposite number a working over and is a constant threat. Have never once said that in a Gakpo performance.

Has there been one game when Gakpo played, and you thought woah what a performance?

Mo isn't always in the thick of it (unlike Chiesa), but he is 32, so has to manage himself in terms of exertion. Like the older Messi, he reserves his energy in order to he effective in certain moments. Gakpo doesnt have this excuse. He is in his physical prime, yet it's small bursts and that's it. He has shown he is a quality finisher (two goals in the 7-0 very different finishes), but he lacks energy, workrate, presence, visibility, involvement. He drifts along in games.

I like Chiesa but Gakpo has earned his spot on that left hand side

Chiesa and Jota would've got swallowed up in the occassion just like Gakpo did.

To play in these derbies, requires a specific kind of attribute. You need to be aggressive and have a bit of shithousery about you......this is why the likes of Grav and Gakpo struggled. Too cool for school types, put it down to a bad day at the office and move onto Wolves.

Chiesa has impressed in every appearance he has made bar that shambles at Plymouth on a bone dry surface and with two children in midfield.

We saw them both on the field at PSV. One stood out a mile and was constantly involved, the other, as he often is, was anonymous.

Chiesa has world class pedigree. What I'd like to see is a real opportunity to show it, in a proper game with the first team.

I'm as big a Chiesa fan as you'll find in here but this post is bizarre.

Cody Gakpo has been on a different planet to Chiesa this season. Our best attacker after Salah.

The drop off to Salah is enormous, comments like "are we a one man band" appearing across social media, so it's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

And different planet to Chiesa, given that we have barely seen Chiesa, that too doesn't say a lot. What little we have seen though has looked very promising. High energy, always involved, direct, constant threat, and a powerful shot on him. He was the best player on the pitch at PSV, and as I said he has world class pedigree. The only other forward we have at world class level is Mo.

I want him to get his first proper chance, that's it. Then we can make a better judgement. I'm convinced he will take it.

Jota would of been up for it. He has the Portuguese "rat" triat like Bruno, Ronalo and Silva.  His body on hand is a different story.

Not big in Gakpo but given his form the past two month, it would be a significant loss if he is out for a long period of time. It would require the likes of Jota, Nunez or Diaz to step up to have with some of the goal scoring.

Apart from all the other games during the season. I wonder how much the injury affected him the other night.

Still we all know he won't run around  like a headless chicken like Diaz

Weird one of most consistent players this season getting so much stick.

It’s not surprising when you look at the accounts that are giving the players stick

I believe he was back in parts of training on Friday, nursing some pain on his ankle from the Everton game.

He'd be a huge boost for midweek, if not what better time to come back than leaving your mark in a final.
