He got F**k all service. Think Mo makes everybody else look bad cos he also got very little service but still got a goal and an assist. Mo still saw a bit more of the ball than Gakpo though, cos Bradley was giving him more help than Robbo was Gakpo.
Valid point about the service, and he did get kicked by a yard dog which the incompetent English official missed. Plus the 3 wingers set up helps nobody.
Just have reservations about him. Always have. Rob Gutmann on TAW was talking about him in the podcast before the game when they were choosing starting XIs, and similarly has reservations, preferring Diaz as he offers more on the ball. Just too quiet, not demanding or energetic enough. Great shot on him when he cuts in as I said, but doesn't do enough.
I've preferred Chiesa for the simple reason he gives his opposite number a working over and is a constant threat. Have never once said that in a Gakpo performance.
Has there been one game when Gakpo played, and you thought woah what a performance?
Mo isn't always in the thick of it (unlike Chiesa), but he is 32, so has to manage himself in terms of exertion. Like the older Messi, he reserves his energy in order to he effective in certain moments. Gakpo doesnt have this excuse. He is in his physical prime, yet it's small bursts and that's it. He has shown he is a quality finisher (two goals in the 7-0 very different finishes), but he lacks energy, workrate, presence, visibility, involvement. He drifts along in games.
