I reckon the club right  now is pointing toward building a 25-man squad (including 8 UK-trained - 4 LFC trained - players) for the 2023-24 season, capable of qualifying for the Champions League (which we probably won't be in for said season).  No reason James Milner can't be one of those 8 English players, especially since U21 players don't count against the total.

Players who will be instrumental in this next version of the team:
      Alisson
      Trent
      Konate
      Robbo
      Bajcetic
      Elliott
      Gakpo
      Diaz
      Jota
      Nunez

Players who probably won't be involved
      Ox
      Keita
      Adrian
      Arthur

Players with questions attached as to their level/role for 22-23
      Virgil
      Matip
      Gomez
      Thiago
      Salah
      Firmino
      Kelleher

Top Prospects (how much can they contribute for the 22-23 season)
      Doak
      Morton
      Gordon
      Carvalho
      Ramsey
      Clark
      Bradley

      Also in Squad (probably)
      Milner
      Tsimikas
      Williams
      Phillips

Need at least two Over 21 English players and some star power in midfield. I would argue we will need a first-rate central defender to add for next season as well.

You know what it's like always someone's fault, but to slag off Milner is the stuff of brain dead f**king ignorance.

At the time I honestly couldn't understand signing him, but boy was I wrong, consumate professional who gives his all in every game he plays.

Picking him out as a scapegoat sums up that dickhead.

Its weird cos every club has 1 or 2 old heads that never let anyone down, its a must.

Would have no issues with Milner staying - he is a perfect example of a Senior experienced back up

He’s the perfect example of how to apply yourself when your up against it, far too many soft arses in today’s game, Jimmy just rolls his sleeves up and says ‘come on then cnuts’ lets see what your made of??

I feel though once Jürgen offers a coaching role he’ll hang them up, that could happen this summer, but the ball (pardon the pun) will be at Jimmy’s feet and he’ll have to make the ultimate decision??

Im sure Klopp said Milner has ideas of playing on, Is why I suspect the player coach thing might be an option.

Unless he is happy going down a level or to the USA or some such to finish his career. Not sure that's his style right enough. ;D

Nah mate, Jimmy’s from Yorkshire, he’s going nowhere, stick a hankie on his head, complete with Knots, roll his trouser legs up and watch him paddle in the North Sea & Sunny Scunny, more pie chips N gravy rather than Lobster thermadore washed down with Chateau Clarisse 1969, that’s going down a level for Jimmy,

In short, he’s homebred and will stick with his own, ……’Welcome to the academy Jimmy’  are the words he’ll be hearing soon enough, and certainly not that cringey‘Welcome to America’ bollocks !!

      Really?

Why don’t we just open a old peoples home instead!

Mate, you have made your point and to be fair it is valid, however, Jimmy was put in for a reason, and if you don’t see why then how can anyone judge or take anymore of your posts seriously,

Jürgen obviously has more trust than you do, oh and dare I say perhaps slightly more knowledge too, it’s been a complete cnut of a season so far and doubtful it’ll get much better, I dunno about you fella but when your down and out of form, you rally, you get together and fight, but we had no fight did we, until Jürgen threw in Jimmy, and suddenly we see, even if it’s only brief, a bit of fight,

That’s why we keep the likes of Jimmy, he set a example of what we all should do when up against it, not throw the fella under the bus because he’s twice the age of some of those who don’t have the experience to fight !!

Keep this in mind next time Jimmy crosses the white wash !!
