Liverpool 2-0 Everton: In game and Post Match discussion

Liverpool make two changes for tonight’s Merseyside derby with Everton.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson return for the Reds at Anfield, replacing Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita in the XI.

Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk are back among the substitutes.

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Gomez, Robertson, Bajcetic, Fabinho, Henderson, Gakpo, Salah, Nunez.

Subs: Kelleher, Van Dijk, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Phillips.

The obvious choices to come into midfield given the injuries but I do hope those two have got their act together.

Doesn't matter what formation we use or have used, we have been struggling with the basics. Until that changes..

18 year old gets the nod in the derby and Jones can’t even make the bench.

Just repeating Dyche will play 1-9-1. Defensive coach. Didn't have much option at Burnley. He'll pack the midfield with only Simms up high. He's trying to nick it but he'll settle for 0-0.

Quite happy with the line up actually.

Fabinho needs to up his game though. Iv seen folk in an old people home shuffle around quicker than he is at the minute.

Still expect at least one mistake from our defence.

Will be interesting to see who is the creative force in this line up. Strikers could be feeding off scraps.

Less said about that CB pairing the better.

Hope we can grind out a draw but expecting another loss.

Can't see us winning until VVD and Jota are 100% fit, and even at that we will struggle.

I was just about to say this. Boy has he regressed. Injuries have undoubtedly hurt him, but he also underperformed for a while now.

Off load him while he's still young and you can turn a profit.

Just want to see us fly out the blocks and tear into these backed by a loud Anfield. If ever there was a night to start getting things back on track ... this is it.

But we need to compete ... match their intensity. We have to want it and hopefully the quality will finally shine through.

Yep. He's like the second coming. Imagine if they win ... he'll be up for the England job.

Let's just get into them ... make a decent start for once and keep the crowd in the game. We're so much better than them. But you've got to do it on the pitch.

Didn't expect to see Fab, hope he's shown improvements in training, because last matches have been awful. Gomez too.
Up front, would have made room for Elliot who has scored a couple.
Think we needed to start Hendo for his experience and leadership, but playing both him and Fab I didn't expect.

Brilliant to see Bob, Jota and VVD on the bench though.

Am not expecting much, based on recent form, just hope we can maybe raise our game for the derby, and if the lads up front can just convert one of the chances that come their way for a change, this would be a great time to start turning things around
