Bobby set to leave in the summer
      Mar 03, 2023 01:22:09 pm
Looks like it's all over for Bobby according to reports . The right decision for both parties maybe one which has been timed well rather than prolonging stay as others have done when clearly past their best

Has been an unbelievable player and one of a kind in his prime but probably the right decision for him and the club.

TBF. with all the new forwards his playing time would be dropping even more.

So makes sense for himself to move on.

Hopefully he gets a brilliant deal somewhere and keeps playing for years.

Best of luck to Bobby who has been a great player for this team. He probably saw that his game time would be more limited going forward and decided to find a new challenge instead.

With Salah, Gakpo, Jota, Diaz and Nunez that's a deep lineup to contend against for game time and at 31yo he probably still feels he can play a bigger role on a different team.

Best of luck Bobby. Top lad, and the right decision to leave in the Summer for both player and club.

I imagine Jürgen knew Bobby was leaving for a while now which is why he's grooming Gapko to be our new false 9 next season. Jota can play this position too.

So next season we will have two left wingers in Nunez and Diaz, two false 9's in Gapko and Jota, and two right wingers in Salah and Doak, with Elliot also able to play here if needed. So we are looking good in all forward areas.

I think Doak will get a decent amount of playing time next season as the eventual successor to Mo in the RW position.

Easily my favourite modern LFC player for the joy in his game and the atypical style forward role he played.

Sad news, an absolute cornerstone in the history of the club in ending the league drought

It’s definitely the right move, we most likely won’t have cl next year so 4 main forwards are enough next year with a couple of young guns for the Europa etc

His wages saved will be important in investing it elsewhere

I was at the Stoke (April 2017) game when he blasted that screamer from about 25 yards out. My favorite memory of him.
Thank you Bobby and good luck. Your wore the shirt with pride.

I'm not giving up on Europe just yet. With that said, this is the right call. And I mean that from a progression point of view. If we had money to burn than absolutely resign him. But with the wage bill having gone up, him getting older, and us having to rebuild, this is the right move.

Firmino is my son's favorite player. He's an absolute legend and IMO is the one player that encapsulates Jurgens philosophy. One of the most selfless players I've ever seen, and one of the smartest. Truly gutted from a Bobby fan point of view. We will be singing this lads name 20 years from now, and that's saying something when you take into account that he isn't scouse or from the UK. Bobby is the perfect embodiment of this game and shows players can capture the hearts and minds of a fanbase by giving their all. I love this kid and will truly miss him.

Scored some massive goals, showed us beautiful link up play, and had the best celebrations. F***ing legend.

My favorite Bobby goal was either the fancy footwork killer against Arsenal or the one that made us Wolrd Champs. What's is yours?

Awesome player who was a pleasure to watch.

I don’t really have a strong opinion either way in regards to whether this is the right or wrong decision, but I think it makes sense for him to move on. It’s still sad news but it’s best to leave a hero, and he’s been playing well this season.

Hopefully he can teach Gakpo a thing or two before he leaves.

Gutted. Thought it'd be 50/50 whether he'd stay but can see why he would want a new challenge and more game time as he enters his twilight years. I believe he can still have a decent few years at another club, perhaps at a slower pace. It would good to see him be a cult hero wherever he goes anyway.

Pure footballer. Remember when Henry said if he could play alongside any striker at the time it would be Bobby, such was his class on the ball and awareness of his teammates. A dream for Salah and Mané to play with and he will be much missed. I don't think we have a similar player to him at all tbh.

I don’t have a fav goal but remember a few years back (may be a couple), we conceded an early goal and he literally bulldozed through the arsenal defence and dismantled them that game and we ended up thumping them

He’s a legend in the modern Liverpool books, it’s a shame he is leaving with us lagging a bit but it’s defo the right call as his wages, injuries and availability is on the downward trend

      Thank you Bobby

Fond memories, one of the most fun players for us and this seasons efforts haven't gone unnoticed, kept us in any potential race which I wouldn't have predicted when the team were playing terrible, many great memories, Good old young Bobby Firmino, love ya man always but life has to move on. he's probably on 120 grand a week which needs to be spent on cigars for the owners so yeah, can't have that. Why is everyone speaking like he's dead? That's the only reason I'm doing it.

Wow, I know it makes sense for him to leave now but it's still a sad bit of news. What a ride it was. A player you can't ''not like''. Every time he was on the pitch, you felt he played for the players around him first and foremost. Always a trick up his sleeve, always a smile, always an original celebration. One of those players that had the joy of playing football written all over his face. Played such an under appreciated and under estimated role to perfection for so many years.

Thank you and all the best to you, Bobby! You'll be missed!

Will be gutted to see him leave - he didn’t get the limelight but he was as key as Mane and Mo during those 5/6 years - just a brilliant player , far too many clueless idiots judged him on the number of goals scored without understanding his role in the team

One of the most unselfish players I've seen in red.  Great awareness of space, and his dropping-off created space for Mo and Sadio.

As a trio, they were the most joyful forward combination I can remember playing for LFC.  So many beaming smiles.  They made the people happy.

Gutted. I heard a rumble about this in the pub last night but didn't want to believe it ...

2/3 of our front 3 now gone. Not sure what's happened. Only a few weeks ago Jürgen said everyone wants him to stay ...

I'm conflicted on the whole thing. Part of me thinks it's the right decision ... the other part of me is really sad that one of our true stars is going.

Brilliant contribution over the years, blew hot and cold but mostly hot and did a lot of the hard work for Salah and Mane to capitalise on.

Sad to see him go but his periods of form have become more sporadic, and injuries have become a little bit more recurrent.

Bobby my favourite player when he was on it. Defended from the front. Was either assisting mo or Mane, or creating space for them. Will miss his celebrations and his no look goals, as well as his huge smile.
One of the most talented players we’ve had in decades.
His awareness on the pitch is uncanny.
So sorry he’s going, but at 30, he clearly wants to play regularly for his last few years.
Someone’s going to get a gem.

Firstly, what a legend. Completely defined the false nine role, and spearheaded the success of the Klopp era, allowing Sadio and Mo the free roam to strut their stuff. Seems like such a character, going to miss that smile.
Secondly, it’s the right decision. We have a lot of options upfront once everyone’s fit, and between Jota, Gapko, Nunes and potentially Salah enough cover for all competitions. I hope Bobby gets a big fat cheque from somewhere before he hangs up his boots. hopefully he gets to still write some history in the run in.

      Si Señor! Obrigados.

Going to miss him loads but as many have said
It’s probably the right time for Bobby & the club to part company.
A real class act & an incredible player that has left us all with plenty of boss memories with plenty more to come before he leaves us
      Best of luck Bobby lad.

Theres no way the club 'just found out'.  I think Gapko is his replacement, just like the club knew about Mane and Diaz was his replacement.

Bobby Firmino - Liverpool legend. Has any player better defined the Klopp era than this man? I don't think so. His last day in front of the Anfield crowd will be an emotional one. 'Si senor...'

The best signing during Brendan Rodgers reign. ;)

Sad to see him go, easily one of my favourite players in recent times but the time is right.

Cannot understand the thinking behind Bobby leaving, even now when he is brought on the game is transformed and we step up a gear.

Wouldn't be surprised if our man is really missing the automatic starting selection he is entitled and qualified to command.

Sorry Bud can't agree with you there....Club was keen for him to stay but he has decided he prefers to go, he's at the end of his current contract and any new contract offer was likely to be a lower wage etc. All players want to play and not sit on the sidelines, but again I don't think any player is as entitled and qualified for automatic selection as you suggest.

Sad news, still has a lot to offer but maybe his recurring injuries are a part of the reason. If any player has represented what Klopp wants in a player then it is Bobby. Every time he plays i watch him specifically, all the little unseen things he does, the decoy runs, the impossible passes, the no look stuff.

I personally think we should have kept him but we don't know the ins and outs of what has gone on. Wherever he goes i wish him nothing but the best, he has given everything for us. He will always be loved here and sorely missed.

Thank you for everything Roberto Firmino.

What a wonderful player Bobby has been for us. Made that front 3 tick at it's best, scorer of super goals, such an intelligent player, bags of skill, touch and foresight, plays with a smile on his face.
Loved watching him. Can only wish him the very very best in whatever he goes onto do.

Good to see him smile today with a goal in the first game after the announcement that he will leave the club.

He's been a great player for us but it's probably the right time for him to leave. Gakpo showed today that there will always be new players coming into the team.

      YNWA Bobby.

Every single player who walks thru the doors at LFC will of course walk back out of those same doors after giving service to our wonderful institution, we’ve seen hundreds of players over the generations who were fan’s favourites, best player, best goal, best pass, best teeth, etc etc,

Roberto Firmino is simply the latest superstar to have made the same journey, he’s certainly been one of my favourites in the 46 years I’ve been in love with the same bird, Kenny was my first, Bobby won’t be the last unless I peg it before he goes,

He’s special, no two ways about it, his skill set above most, like Kenny, he was two yards faster in mind and together with his tricks n flips was always a danger whoever the oppo was, he would work his arse off for the team, from tracking back to pressing and being the first defender, his link up play with Mane & Mo allowed both to score goals aplenty in particular Mo,

I almost changed my avatar to ‘Bobby’s Gnashers’ cos I admire him so much, I had the same kind of respect for Gini too but not quite on the same level for Bobby, there are far too many special moments Bobby has provided during his time here, one that always comes to mind was I think against either Saints or Stoke, can’t remember, red & white stripes anyway and we were in our Orange clobber,

the ball is fizzed in to him quickly, and with one flick sets up a goal, it looks like a run of the mill back heel flick, but in slo mo he actually lifts & flicks the ball so the defender can’t intercept, typically Bobby using his vision and providing yet another assist, f***in hell, we’re gonna miss ye Bobby la,

Many of us have have experienced fav players leaving or retiring, Kenny, Souey, Jocky back in the day, God, Aldo, Digger, Sami, Alonso, more recently Carra, Gerrard, Gini and now we’re adding Bobby, it is sad always is, but like those before him, Bobby leaves us with his head held high, he will leave us with great pride in his heart and he will leave us with Legendary status ,

“There’s something that the Kop wants you to know, best in the world is Bobby Firmino”
Si Senor, give the ball to Bobby and he will score !!

      Thank You Bobby, YNWA

You can literally see his age. He moves slower and his movements do not have the sharpness of previous years. He'd be nothing but a mascot next season and I am glad he has the dignity to understand and leave.

Matip, Henderson and Fabinho will also deserve a close look before extensions.

Milner gets a new 2 year contract from me.

      Ox, Jones, Keita...bye.

I also would prioritize to get a mad runners like Robbo before skilled players. You could see in this match: we won because we outworked them, from a skill level they were better and you could even see it thru the ball handling at least in the 1st half.

We need 2 top players, ideally Bellingham and some pitbull runner (Rice?).

This is a thread for giving respect to 1 of the players who changed our narrative. Bobby helped us win the league and everything else. Put this sh*t somewhere else.

Been one of my Klopp era faves. Even today you knew he'd be the one scooping Salahs shirt up when he broke the record PL goals.

And his goal was pure Firmino filth.

It's probably his time to leave but he will leave with a lot of credit in the bank.

I'm hoping for at least one more no look goal.

Best move for both him and the club. We have the new players up to we need to integrate and take us forward, and Bobby still has a couple years of top level football in him so a move to a new club where he could get more money and playing time.

It will be a loss for not just the club but the league as he was uniquely skills footballer who brought many great highlights.
