Who has never truly been a winger in his bloody life 🤯
What was he when he alternated with Mane then? He certainly wasn't a goal scoring forward when he was deployed in a front 3. He's attempted to be #10 and CM but he's got no defensive attributes for those roles. We don't need a  Coutinho we need a central midfielder that can pass forward well as well as track back. Gerrard, Ox and Milner are good examples. Keita should be doing that as well. I don't like having a player that is too close to the center if they can't win the ball back. If we have such a player then we should not have a front 3, #10 leaves too much defensive vulnerabilities if deployed with a front 3... It would essentially mean doing this with a front 2.

               Salah             Firmino
                           #10

This is the missing link people complain about, but it's not better... do people think none of our current 3 can track back? If we really need #10 like Firmino could do that.
I don't think many people would want to give up a striker for a number #10. Does adding another player close to the midfield really add that much when a striker only has to adjust his position? Shaqiri could be a number #10 as well if Klopp really wanted one.

We need a player who sits deep and makes defensive contributions. Modric has done that brilliantly at Madrid. We need a Modric not a Coutinho. Basically a Henderson with playmaking abilities.

Fair enough - was only teasing re the winger classification for Cou.

Not many teams wouldn’t benefit from a Modric.

Current Best XI of former players still playing:

      Pepe Reina (AC Milan)

      Martin Kelly (Crystal Palace)
      Martin Skrtel (Fenerbahce)
      Mamadou Sakho (Crystal Palace)
      Jon Flanagan (Rangers)

      Lucas Leiva (Lazio)
      Emre Can (Juventus)
      Joe Allen (Stoke)

      Raheem Sterling (Man City)
      Luis Suarez (Barcelona)
      Phil Coutinho (Barcelona)

Where would that team finish in the Premier League? Tasty front three but I reckon a battle for top six with that back four!

Front 3 is about the only thing we'd take from that.

Given Mane's sale to Bayern, I had a look at those who've played for both clubs before and unfortunately couldn't muster a starting XI but F**k me this isn't a bad side for a one man down team.

      Reina
      Babbel Can Zeige
      Shaqiri Alonso Hamann Thiago Coutinho
      Mane

And seeing how we got him from Southampton, let's have a go with them but with no Klopp signings.

      Grobbelaar
      Clyne Wright Ruddock Venison
      Case Redknapp Lallana Walters
      Keegan Crouch

      This is not a good XI by any stretch but anyway;

      Sunderland

      Mignolet

      Wright Coates Babb Dossena

      McAteer Henderson Hutchison Zenden

      Cisse Borini
