The next time our number 20 dons a Liverpool shirt, he'll become the 222nd player to represent our club 100 times.
It was certainly a transfer that raised a few eyebrows at the time but very quickly proved it was a good piece of business with goals coming at a decent rate and performances to match. The goals have dried up recently, getting close to a full calendar year since he netted against City last year.
Injuries have halted him for most of this season but now he's back fit, he's putting in some good performances again. And he's given us another option at the top end of the pitch.
He's also the subject to a very good song from the Kop.
Congratulations Diogo. Here's to many to come.
Billy you can count on one hand the bad signings made since Jürgen donned a LFC baseball cap, Jota is quality and will only get better, I can see him reaching upwards of 250 + so long as he keeps relatively healthy, imo his best position is centrally where finding the onion bag comes second nature to him,
Jürgen as you know doesn’t sign sh*te players, one or two may have failed to make the required grade under him or the system he prefers, but Jota fits like a glove, and another glove for me is Gakpo, he’s beginning to settle in nicely and will from next season play in the hole, taking over Bobby’s role,
Anyhoo Jota for me is yet another example of Jürgen bringing in those who fit perfectly for the system used.
