      Pre-Match: Liverpool v Arsenal 9th April 4:30pm
      Apr 07, 2023 08:45:49 pm
Sorry folks, we're playing football again.

Back at Anfield where hopefully some of the insipid displays will be less tolerated.

Unfortunately we are playing an Arsenal team who have a full point per game better than us.

Anything less than a win and we can no longer mathematically win the league.

I’d take a point right now..

Wonder if we risk Thiago for this or bench ? Either way will be a tough one but wouldn't be surprised if we turned them over

Any chance of a sudden and dramatic revival at this point in the season seems as likely as Lallana decrying FSGs lack of investment on the pitch so I'll settle for us keeping it tight and showing some fight. As we are at home it is not totally out of the question that we could get a result.

Done well at home but our two major scalps against City and United were when those teams played the occasion and not the game. Our other tough games at home have been less impressive - unbeaten against Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle yes but didn't play well in any of those and should have been beat a couple of times. Will be interesting to see how Arsenal approach it, I suspect they will be a bit cautious and try and hit us on the break knowing that a draw isn't a disaster for them.

I’m very very afraid that we are due  a smack down from the gunners. As we have smacked them around probably since that 2014 season. Heart says 2-2.

Still think gunners win the league.

Is there any chance of Trent being tried in midfield, I've heard whispers online probably BS sites, he could still get crosses in from the right of midfield? I don't think Klopp would do but it's worth a try in my non managerial experienced opinion.

To hell with it..I'm starting Arthur...he can, allegedly, play box to box or playmaker type.

      Ali..Gomez..Konate..VVD. .Robbo....Hendo..Fabinho ..Arthur....Mo..Gakpo..N unez.

Arthur is only 26. Barca paid big money for him as did Juve..so he must be able to actually kick a friggin' ball. But wouldn't be surprised to see Thiago pop up again.

He'll have to be tried there at some point. May be the Boss will try it in the pre-season friendlies. Going live with it so to speak, at this critical juncture might not be the way forward.

I don’t expect Klopp to go anywhere near TAA being part of a midfield three

Might be a wingback or right of a midfield 4 if they go three at the back

We should be expecting a defeat on form, even though we’ve been better at home.

Arthur is a good player , was very good at Barce , he had a few niggles but was clearly unfit when he arrived and then that was a bad injury - shame as he could have given us an option when Thiago was out

We might never know what he could do here. We paid nearly £5m loan fee I believe with an option to buy. Well we won't buy him and he might get a few end of season games. Klopp and his team must've seen something in him to bring him in.Tried everyone might as well give Arthur lad a shot.

Top 4 is still mathematically possible but in reality, it's gone. But getting 5th is very important as it secures a place in the Europa League.

So that gives us two ways to get back into Champions League, either through the top 4 or Winning the Europa League. So winning is still vitally important.

If you'd said this time last season Arsenal would be top of the league by 5pts and we'd be languishing in 8th and out of all the competitions, you'd be hounded off the forum. How the f*ck has this parallel universe been allowed to happen? We don't need Arthur, we need time travellers!

We have time travellers. Most the squad ended last season 29 years old and came back pre season 42 years old.

He's off in the summer so what's the point? Top 4 is well gone so might as well give Jones an extended run or find a kid from the academy to get a bit of time than play Arthur.

Wow we're 8th in the league behind f***in Villa.

      Tragic.

Anyway I want to see Arsenal win the league over City so not too fussed if they beat us.

Would rather we finish mid table than a godawful Europa League spot.

None whatsoever,  soon people understand that the better.

People talk about him playing in midfield because they see him as a defensive liability at right back.

Forgetting that in Klopp's system one of the midfielders' primarily responsibilities is to provide defensive cover for the outside backs when they go forward.

We sound like spoilt kids but I wouldn’t be too bothered if arsenal won today either.

I would much prefer to see them win the league than 100 breaches FC. Presumably everybody else feels the same.

But we need to think about ourselves before anybody else. We’ve seen how drained this squad is this season. Going to Azerbaijan on a Thursday night isn’t going to help that.

Of course we get a champions league spot if we won it, but with only playing one game a week without it and injuries/tiredness being far less likely, then I’d be amazed if we didn’t comfortably finish in the top four anyway.

With all that said, despite being a whopping 30 points behind them, I do think we’re a much better side than arsenal and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us slap them today and give them a bit of a reality check. Been waiting all season for it to happen to them and I think today is going to be that day.

I don’t get this attitude where a lot of fans would be happy for us to lose so a.) we don’t qualify for Europe and b.) city don’t win the league.

I don’t personally care who wins the league and I want us to finish as high as we can.

As for todays game I think they will cause us all kinds of problems. A draw I think is likely but it could be 3-2 to someone.

Because sometimes in life you have to take a step back to take two steps forward and football is no different.

Being in the Europa league or even worse that conference cup is only going to hinder any chance we have at winning the league next season.

Winning the league next season? Not a chance. Too many players need replacing and then need to gel.
In my opinion we need to finish as high as possible and then treat every completion with respect.

Playing one game a week with klopp in charge? We have every chance.

The problems we’ve seen this season is down to playing too many games. The likes of Trent and Fabinho badly need a breather but you want them to play in a competition that doesn’t benefit us in any way, to affect another competition that does?

You only have to look at the teams in England who play in the Europa league. The vast majority of times, their league form is horrendous.

      And it’s happened to us.

Fatigue both mentally and physically is also a big part of what's going on this season.

As much as the issues are there I'm other aspects these players have been flogged to death

Which version of our team will show up tomorrow I wonder?

One that can actually turn up and put in a performance to match our history. Alas this seems too much to ask !

He is but he's far from alone.

The club from top to bottom has been a mess this season and it needs fixed very quickly.

Tired?...We were poor in the first game of the season. Also, both Arsenal and Man U. league positions not too shabby for a Europa teams.

I personally think we will win this one.  I really don't like the comparison of Arsenal with our 2019 and 2020 team, thats almost dis-respectful. We had won the champions league while accumulating 90 plus points, and subsequently
winning the title next year while Arsenal haven't won a f**king thing yet.

These pundits are hyping them all too much .

Exactly. I’m wonder what the data from the players’ sports bras are saying about their fitness, laziness and intensity.

The first data I’d pull out is TAA’s. I believe his data has deteriorated the most.

Klopp can’t even force players to run harder. It’s down to the individual players.

I always thought I was one of the more optimistic ones on here, but I'm not feeling these tips for us to win today. The only glimmer I see is the performance vs Man United.

Would love to see it again of course, but if it happens, will really be against our recent form.

I'll still be watching and shouting the team on, from thousands of miles away.

It will be just like us this Season to turn them over. Just turn up for the big games.

We have to win games. Seven draws and nine defeats form twenty eight games is abysmal. Winning breeds confidence and i couldn't give a F**k if beating Arsenal hands City the League (which it wouldn't). All i care about is our Club, that we win every game we compete in. There is always something to play for, it's called pride.

Never ever give up. I've gone for a 2-1 win for us. Like i said, we seem to turn up for most of the big games.

Come on boys, show some respect for the supporters, the Club, the manager and just as importantly, yourselves.

We can't get any lower than this, the only way is up.

It's like we have turned into an engine with a slipped tooth on the timing belt. The combustion isn't there, something needs adjusting, whether that's the crank or the camshafts, something is out of sync. It needs a total strip down, a head skim, a new gasket and seals.

Getting sick of match days. To think that each time we attend one, we’re giving the club money. Yet they aren’t strengthening the squad with the match day revenue.

Gone for an Arsenal win in the Prediction League.  Can't see any other outcome.   Chelsea were bang average in midweek and if they had a decent striker they probably would have scored 5.

Arsenal look as confident as we did last year and they've now got the ability to come from behind and win games as well.   Eternally hopeful but not only has our quality been low of late but there hasn't been any sign of real fight either which is why I think today will be beyond us.  Shocking deterioration.

Whereas I would hate to end up in that Euro Conference Bollocks i would never advocate we lose matches to avoid it, never, and those who do need to go take a long hard look at themselves, what your actually saying is ‘ I don’t care if Liverpool lose’ and to me that’s tantamount to treachery, imagine, last couple of games we need to avoid defeat at Blueshite or/and the MUtants ??

Would you really want us to lose to either of them ? Just to avoid a meaningless tournament, we may as well not bother to win anymore league this campaign then so as to ensure we f***in miss it, F**k off with that defeatist attitude, that’s the kind of thing we’d hear from Blueshite fans !!

Go give yer heads a wobble FFs !!!

confident of a win today merely because our home form if replicated in away games would give us an 87 point total for the season .
It must drive Jürgen bonkers trying to work out how we have become so poor away from home 3-1 for me that Man Mo Hatrick .
Whatever we are missing away from home the Anfield faithful seem to make up for.

Got a feeling this could be a crazy 3-2 or something similar. Roll back the years to the Arseshavin' fixture. For Arsenal the objective is clear, for us there is pride and the desire not to be humiliated again, home expectations, the occasion and everyone being on holiday. I see goals and chaos  >:D

Looking forward to this, more often than not we up our game Vs the form teams, however there’s always the worry we capitulate like we did @ the Emptihad, F**k knows which Liverpool turns up today, just hope we can hold our heads high come FT, Arteta will obviously want the three points so I guess it will come dow to who wants it more, who’s hungrier, being honest it’s hard to imagine us having the same fight as Arse will given that they have more to go for than us.
