Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal: In game and Post Match discussion

Liverpool make five changes for this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk return in defence, while Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah come back into the attack.

Thiago Alcantara is named among the substitutes.

I’m getting sick of Nunez not starting and going off early but I am assuming it’s injury related. It’s frustrating though as he’s our most dangerous attacker and can cause so many problems due to the intensity he plays at.

I wouldn’t have started Jones but I think it’s a case of not having too many options. Thiago probably isn’t ready for a start. I would have probably gone for Elliot as it’s a home game.  It’s a big game for Jones. I wasn’t impressed against Chelsea but it was his first start in a while. I am in favour of seeing him get a run of games so we can decide whether to stick with him next season or move him on.

I don’t feel good about this one but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if we decided to turn up and won. That would just further reinforce that the players are flakes though. I think 2-0 Arsenal but I’m hoping we can get the win as it hurts to lose to a team who we were so much better than less than 12 months ago.

Interesting that Jürgen put Jota in rather than Nunez, Gakpo for me is more suited in the hole with Darwin left, of course that will Change once Lucho comes back, if he plays Jota left it’s another square peg scenario and not ideal against Arse, but look, I’m a couch potato and know pretty much f**k all so there must be a reason for it, one beyond my extremely limited grey matter, anyhoo it will all depend on which Liverpool decides to turn up, but saying that if you can’t get up for such a game then maybe you shouldn’t be there at all, can’t say I’m full of confidence if I’m honest but I do believe we can scrape a narrow win.

People give Harvey some stick but he offers a lot more going forward than Jones.

He does, but on this occasion Jones provides a better balance, he needs a run of games too, we can’t judge the lad if he’s a bit part player, we need him going forward, it’s up to him now, he has to show why Jürgen trusts him and obviously prove he made the right decision.
