Leeds United 1-6 Liverpool: In game and Post Match discussion
      Apr 17, 2023 07:00:27 pm

Elland Road hosting the Mighty Reds

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Jones, Jota, Salah, Gakpo.

Subs: Kelleher, Thiago, Milner, Firmino, Elliott, Tsimikas, Diaz, Nunez, Matip.

Luis Diaz is named on the bench as Liverpool opt for an unchanged line-up at Leeds United tonight.

The forward returns to the Reds’ squad for the first time since October following injury, with Jürgen Klopp electing to field the same starting XI that faced Arsenal last weekend.

Wish Bob was starting this one.

As for that midfield ..... yeah.

Hoping for the best ... but any win will do.

What does Jota offer that Nunez do not :/

We need to start gain confidence for next season, we need to stop the landslide.

      Come on Reds.

Hmm is Nunez out of favour?

Would have preferred to start Thiago but I guess still working his way back.

No place for Nunez. Jones in again. Should be enough to beat Leeds. Thumped by Palace 1-5.

Don’t understand the Jota stick. Setup the first against Arsenal, and won the pen…

Would have thought Nunez would have got a start but can see why Jota starts

Also not surprised that Thiago doesn’t start when he has just got back from injury

Curtis Jones isn't good enough. One game isn't going to change that.

People may see if differently ... that's all good by me. That's how I see it.

I'd rather see Elliott in there. For all the criticism he has had he's done a hell of alot more than Jones has in a much shorter time frame.

However, as you say ... it is a big chance for him and with hopefully new players coming in this summer if he doesn't show something in the next 2 months that will be it. He's on a 5 year deal and I think a few championship clubs would offer good money for him or maybe a newly promoted club.

That team more than good enough to get the 3 points...If we work as hard as them.. we win...half arsed effort and we get nothing.

The Arsenal game was encouraging so I hope we can actually build off that performance rather than have a stinker like we did against Bournemouth.

I would have started Nunez but I’m going to assume there’s still a lingering injury issue. If he’s actually fully fit, I don’t see what Klopp is seeing when he chooses to start Jota over him. I would have liked to have seen Bobby but he’s not going to get many chances now he’s leaving.

It’s probably a game too soon for Thiago but hopefully he can come on and influence the game. Our bench is strong. Can’t wait for Diaz. Unfortunately I’ll be on the way to work when the second half begins but we have missed him so much.

Ever the optimist, I’ve gone for 0-3.

Just hope we turn up and start with the same intensity we did v arse in the second half.

We let them outrun us in the middle and we’re in for a tough night !
