Are there people that have said we have to spend a certain amount on a player for them to be good or are you just talking out of your ass again?
It's about quality. Nothing more and nothing less. Proven quality costs money ... especially when the selling teams know how desperate we are and they also know other clubs will just pay them what they ask and move on.
People can decide if they think a certain player fits or whether they rate them, but to do that solely taking cost into consideration would be stupid. Robbo at 8m being the prime example.
Whereas other clubs will be signing top quality players this summer ... we will be in a different market where potential and price line up enough for us to do a deal. We are operating in a different market. Hopefully we do the best we can with the limited funds we're able to generate through sales.
We're playing catch up. We did it once ... built a great team and foothold as challengers. We squandered it through lack of investment , foresight and keeping hold of a large group of players who are injury prone and contribute nothing.
For me this summer is about moving players on just as much as bringing them in. There's players there with no business being here ... nowhere near good enough for where we supposedly want to be. Let's see how many are moved on.
As for Mac Allister ... not for me. Doesn't fit and won't give us what we are missing in midfield. I'm not impressed by him and I hope it doesn't come off. And that will still be the case if the fee was 70m, 60m 50m or 40m.
