As well as Messi don't forget Ronaldo who will also be chewing the cud and on the short list.

Messi didn't make the 30-man shortlist last year.  CR7 did, but he didn't get a single vote, and I'll be very surprised if he makes the shortlist this year.

Ronaldo has now got 199 international caps. I know he appears to have a massive ego and probably a total pr**k but that is a big achievement for anyone.

Should have retired from international football a long time ago. That Portugal team have been carrying a stinking corpse on its back for long enough now

1 last one for Messi I reckon.

Winning WC to top his career off at top level.

scored about the same as Salah in his first season as Salah didn't take penalties and we all know we win the Champions League if Salah hadn't been assaulted in the game.   They didn't give it to Salah him lets see if they will give to halaand.

Yeh can't  disagree with that.  But Salah should have won it in his first season too.  The numbers are hardly different.  It's just a glamour award that is hardly given to the best in my opinion.

I’m hoping you statement is  :f_tongueincheek: Brez 😂

PSG win the league nearly every year anyway so don’t think Messi would make a difference.

      Still a league title mate.

I think winning the world cup is enough for messi to clinch it though.

The national conference league a title but doesn’t get any credit 😂

I’ve never been of the opinion a player being part of a team for a competition can ( but does ) win this award. I base it on the calendar year it starts and finishes.

Ballon D'Or was dead the year Virgil didn't get it (2019 I think it was).

If Messi wins it this year then I hope this is the one that finally gives him that personality that has always eluded him.

yeh that was the year we won big ears and VVD was in the middle of his 18 month run in which no one went passed him.  Their pets ronaldo and messi the whole lot tried.  I've never seen a defender like that in my life.   Barca come back messi crying like school girl and they give it to him.  Like Keith says its a corrupt award.

Ach, who actually gives a F**k, it’s corrupt as the fuckpigs that vote for it, we all know where it’s likely to be going too but it won’t be a EPL player despite being the best league in the world with the best players in the world playing in it, if I did give a F**k, I’d probably go for Gundogan, he for me won Shitty’s recently title purchase, the player was immense, and would be a very worthy winner, if indeed it was worthy of winning!!

Surprise surprise! Messi wins another Ballon d’Or. 🤦‍♂️ It’s so rigged it’s embarrassing, what has he done over the last year to even be in the running.
