What fsg want is for the club to be self sufficient, the problem is that means we are doing it letās say ultimate hard mode to compete
For example the stadium improvements and so on prob came out of the revenues of the club or will do eventually which could have been used for players
The owners I believe of a club can also put in 30-40m (cannot remember exactly) of personal wealth which would make a big difference if we could have that every season like other big boy clubs
Itās going to be very difficult to complete with clubs spending 40-50-60m extra per season than us
There is no excuse for us to be mid table in terms of spend though. Fsg wonāt put funds in, itās as simple as that, they want the business to generate everything which simply is going to be very difficult unless we work miracles which we did prior.
Itās why theyāre looking for investment, so we can improve the squad
30m per season makes a big difference and you can bet the reason we are spending less than half of the league is we have owners who wonāt invest whilst 7-8 other teams will do
However, eventually it will catch up to them, look at Leicester and wolves for example
I believe Arsenal and Chelsea will be struggling in a few years time but still the owners should be investing 30m per year as they have a multi billion pound investment ffs
We have probably the best manager on the planet who has unequalled skills and knowledge of the game, the owners no doubt were advised of this vital information before paying a considerable amount to retain Jürgen Klopp's services.
Unfortunately the only conclusion to be reached regarding a failure to back the manager and ultimately the club financially is FSG's sole priority is market values and financial thrift.
Hopefully we have turned a corner after last season's disappointment
and people have seen the light, Thuram could be the catalyst.
