Alexis Mac Allister Player Thread (M)

Not a fan but I thought he improved his game yesterday

I missed most of the first half but thought he was lacking in the second. Late to a lot of things, unable to get his boot in resulting in us having to chase a lot more. I think he’s a tidy player with a good eye for a forward pass, but still not sold on this 6 business unless there’s a double pivot or to bridge until Bajcetic can make it his own (likely next season).

I thought he had a good game at the weekend, with and without the ball. Trent was the standout but i thought Mac was up there alongside Nunez, VVD and Matip (until the last 10 mins!) as our top performers in the game.

I think he did just ok. But I didn't rate any of our midfield especially in the first half. Thought we were unbalanced and were crying out for a Gini and a Fab.

Like Mac, but I think we need a proper no.6.  Doesn't look solid in that ''sole CDM'' role. Not fast enough and not defensively aware enough to play that role on his own. Had we been playing a formation with a double pivot I think it would've been okay, but considering how we set up we need a proper DM who can cover lots of space for 90 minutes, is very aware defensively and can tackle without giving up fouls.

I'm not saying that as a criticism of him. I think he will benefit from not having to play that role because he's a fantastic player. We'll gain in depth too with more CMs available and more competition.

Gonna be a long season with this lad in the no.6 role. Absolutely lost and overwhelmed.

Showed what he can bring if closer to the goal with that wonder strike, I hope we make it work and find a way to get him higher up the pitch.

He likes to play a high-risk high-reward pass now and then and it is better he does that as far away from the opposition's box as possible.

You could see what that goal meant to him. Almost like a "see what I can do if I'm allowed to play further forward"

So pleased for the kid. Been sacrificing himself all season and getting caned by some........this guy is a top signing.

Never mind first goal, any goal for the club. That was otherworldly spectacular!

After VVD's goal, he had a shot from outside the box which was perfectly executed but unfortunately was central.
