He is the engine of our midfield, his season won't be defined by goals or assists IMO.

I was one of them. If you take away his goals he was terrible. But you don't take away the goals so hey, works for me. Until he scored he'd given away the ball several times in a row and wasn't really doing much of anything.

The funny thing is, Dom was the opposite. He was playing a really good game but because he missed a couple chances people think he had a bad game. I'm sure it will all be fine. No issues with people being critical of people's play from game to game. That's what we are here for, praise and criticism and eating crow and patting ourselves on the back.

He'd given the ball a way a few times yes but does that straight away mean he was playing terribly? It looked like they were all at it with giving the ball away before the goal game, maybe it was easier to notice Diaz doing it because he was closer to pitchside.

What about the play when he assisted the disallowed goal, do we discredit it because Mo drifted offside?

Everything came from Dalot and Rashford, Diaz helps out Robbo a lot in shutting out attacks down our left side which is why nothing came from Garnacho and this is often overlooked to an attackers game.

I think he ran the most out of all the midfielders against the Mancs. Macallister got the most interceptions.

the midfield trio bossed the game

I agree with you, but just let me add that we're simply expecting a lot from Szobo. He really has the potential to be a great midfielder for us and we need him to be focused and efficient on the field. Technically, there's no doubt about his abilities, but he has to translate that on the field. We were all surprised by how good he was during his first games for us, then his form declined. Now we expect him to do better and make us dream.

That's the thing with him. He was in dangerous positions throughout the whole game and could have scored or created 2 or three goals if he had taken the right decisions.

I don't think we're being unfair, we just think he can and should do better given the quality he has.

Go and listen to what Neil mellor said about sobo, and the match stats he has for him. on LFCTV.

      Quick summary.

Sobo was no.1 in all these...

      distance covered
      Sprints
      passing accurancy final 3rd
      possesion won
      chances created

      and was 2nd in assists.

      Not bad.

Think I'll pass. Neil Mellor is too nice when it comes to commentary/analysing. Rather someone who's honest and calls it down the middle, the bad with the good. I'd be more inclined to hear what Gillespie thought.

We all saw the full game so we each have our own thoughts. Usually you'd expect a player with those stats to be the top performer....he wasn't even top 4-5, because the stats don't show the negatives the eyes see.

The position he plays he should be contributing more with goals and assists which I’m sure will come.

He started like this last season, so the danger is like last season where he ran him himself into the ground after Christmas. Maybe the club think Jones if he stays fit can rotate and cover that position.

I agree, I think with the position he plays he should at least aim at 10-15 goals a season.

He's a player I really want to like and want to be excited by... but recently, and not just this seasons start... I feel outside of the insane amount of runnnig he does, there isn't much there... he's very undecisive in important scenarios, and usually chooses the wrong option or just doesn't get it out from his under his feet... literally on the fence with him...

      A game to forget.

It does seem he's another one to add into the list of players we take an absolute age on the ball. He, Jones, Diaz and Mo all as guilty as the other.

      Spot on ATK.

      Just doesn’t do enough.

      His decision making is terrible.

Needs to sort his sh*t out and hopefully we get to see the same player who Captains his Country!

needs to be more involved in goals and assists. 37 league appearances so far but only 3 goals. not good enough.

Plays within himself at times but the first three games were very positive. He’s a unique midfielder due to his speed, size, and ball carrying ability. He also has a tremendous shot that we haven’t seen too much of.

He can be indecisive but I think one of his problems is that he’s not a great passer.
Sometimes he will play a great ball but there were times last season where his passing was shocking - I recall Arsenal at home as being one of those games. Passing is where Elliot has him beat imo but Szob has way better physical attributes. Saying that, I thought his passing was good in the first three games.

I think Szob can definitely go up a level. He is still adapting to playing a new position and role and now he is playing under a new coach, but I hope come the end of the season he will have been more productive and consistent than last year.
