Al-hilal bidding 125m for the forward from napoli. Just when you think this game can't get anymore silly it manages to do so.

The transfer market is f*cked. 12 months from now ... if not before you can see alot of money on the table for salah. Fsgs eyes will light up.

It seems these players don't even care about CL football ... just the dirty dollar over there. Won't be long before uefa and the leading leagues decide 'we want a wedge of this' and reform the European game to get them in.

Kind feels like everything will be unpredictable now ... at least over the next 2 or 3 years. Where at a moments notice any of your players will drop all tools/responsibility and demand to go as soon as this dirty money is wafted under their noses.

Haaland 2m a week? No problem. No shortage of cash and no ffp for them to think about ... not that ffp is worth a flying fcuk anyway. Not fit for purpose.

UEFA need to step in now make a rule to protect their organisation. Any player who leaves a UEFA club cannot return to any UEFA league for a minimum 5 years.

But they won't as they are all corrupt as f**k.

Never happen. They'll just get in bed with them and they'll all line their pockets with dirty cash.

Game has gone. Its a dirty corrupt entity and has been for along time. One day corruption on a massive scale will be uncovered from referees to governing bodies. Its a certainty .

I don't think we should be worried about the Saudi Pro League. Football is a free market and European teams have been buying up all the best players for years.

There are only 18 teams in the Saudi league so there will be a limit to the amount of players they can buy. If they want to have a competitive national team I assume they want to keep 5 or 6 home grown players in each team. They are competing for TV deals but they are only going to be relatively small compared to the European big 5, CL, Europa league and all the international games.

Don't know who the Napoli forward is but if we got an offer >$100M for Salah next summer everyone's eyes should light up and wish him well on his new endeavor.

He'd be 32yo then and we would have had his best years and getting top return for him. During last negotiations he and his agent showed how much they care about money so with his contract only having 1 year left next summer a move to Saudi would be a good move for him to get those crazy wages.

Not if European competition is altered to enable them to play. Wouldn't surprise anyone. If that happens then what's happening now will just be flexing their muscles.

I think it's very unlikely that UEFA will allow the pro league clubs in European competition for various reasons. The big clubs have to much power and will not want to compete against teams with unlimited wealth. UEFA is quite weak compared to FIFA and does not have the power to force clubs to accept ridiculous, financially motivated changes. Also, there is the FFP issue, I know it's quite weak but none of the Saudi clubs will come close to meeting FFP rules. I also think that the Saudis probably would not want to have the financial openness required for FFP. Then we have the ownership issue. PIF owns at least 4 of the pro league teams, how is that going to fit with UEFAs ownership rules.
Finally, we have the moral objections, allowing Saudi clubs into European competition would cause serious damage to the brand, look how quick Russian clubs and Gazprom got pushed out after the Ukraine invasion.

I don't think you should catastrophise about this. Football is a much bigger sport than golf or F1. I prefer that the Saudis build up their own league rather than buy European clubs and copy City. Even if they buy up 100 players from Europe it's will not have a  major impact on our competition.
Does anyone know what time the Saudi games kick off? I think they are probably aiming for a gap in the TV schedules after the European games have finished?

it may be unlikely that UEFA allow them to compete in the CL etc but who would have thought Qatar would host a World Cup the biggest football competition in the World. Never under estimate the power of a bung.

Whole reason for the current Saudi strategy, they're selling the place PR wise for when they throw a bid in to host 2030 World Cup

Believe they threw their hat out of the ring for World Cup 2030 but are going to bid for the 2034 World Cup (which plays into what you are saying). Also think FIFA has vested interest in Saudi league taking off as with their new World Club Cup it will draw a bit more attention to the competition.

See along with Osimhen, David from Lille is being linked to a move. Interesting to see what younger players they look to get who are more in their prime.

Hadn't realized Milinkovic-Savic also went to SA. I remember him being rumored to come here in the past and is only 28.

Excellent idea, they well need it, to at least sort out defensive problems. This area still needs to be solved !
