Go out in the street and offer the first bloke you meet a £20 note, As he go's to take it, withdraw your offer and say you were only joking.
......Then use that £20 to get an Uber to A&E to get your nose fixed.

Throw the head in first then withdraw the £20.

No need for uber or the hossie ;)

Supposedly make a £110 bid for an unknown quantity and then refuse to make a £30m acceptable bid for a player we need!?!?

Where in the world does that make sense?

I agree mate, that’s where it gets ridiculous.

The analogy makes no sense as an answer to the supposed £110m bid and the refusal to £30m for a player we need.

they don't see him as the same value at 30 million, what is hard to understand?

Never once thought that Caicedo bid was the real deal , in fact I believe the club accountant would have actually gone into a melt down had the player agreed to it .

you guys think covid-19 was a deep state conspiracy i bet.

The 'bid' for Caicedo was farcical and defies credibility!

The £30m release clause for Andre not being addressed by the club illustrates the disparity of the Caicedo tale, a supposed £110m bid for an unknown quantity compared to a refusal to bid for a much needed CM.

Sometimes your utter cluelessness astonishes me

Maybe Brighton were lying when they accepted the bid

I think that’s silly mate, the bid was real. They left it on the table for three days. If it really was all bluff It would have come off the table quickly as it was presented. This sounds like conspiracy theorist stuff.  Yes they r made a feckin pigs ear of things but I don’t believe that for a minute. It’s crazy talk.

It may well be silly , on the other hand it’s possible , either way none of us on here will ever know the actual truth , but given our track record of the last couple of windows , it wouldn’t surprise me , all of a sudden our once tight transfer strategy is leaking more than the titanic .

The truth was - we bid an amount for a player which was accepted by the club , why would Brighton lie about a bid from us

Yep accepted knowing full well he didn’t want to come , I could be wrong but you kind of get the feeling this was well known , so leaving the bud there was irrelevant, he didn’t want to come to us , that’s the only truth we know in this deal .
Anyhow this is the wrong thread to get into that , we all have our own thoughts as to how this re build has gone , I actually think we’ve got a couple decent players in time will tell how it pans out .

But we do know the truth, the bid was accepted but the player preferred to go to Chelsea.

When was it known that he didn’t want to come to before the bid ?

The reports were that they were encouraged by the players party that he was interested and that’s why we bid - why would the club bid on a player if they didn’t want to come to us

And the bid stayed there because no other bid was submitted

The ā€œonlyā€ truth included the club bidding Ā£116mil and having it accepted

Fact - the club submitted a bid

Fact - the bid was accepted

      That’s quite simply the truth

That was clearly confirmed by both clubs

BUT....it was only submitted because we knew the player didn't want to move to us  :lmao:

You trying to convince me that Brighton didn’t know he didn’t want to come to us , because it became apparent pretty soon after that bid , what was the point in leaving that bid there , why on earth would we still be trying to get a player who had no intention of coming here makes no sense ,

      Again

Fact - we made a bid and Brighton accepted it. Chelsea previously made bids which were turned down

And until chelsea made any bid we had the only bid that was accepted and it seems that Klopp was looking to persuade him to change his mind - which can happen of course , remember this was a player that wanted Arsenal in Jan and Utd previously

Jesus guys you're arguing over the most pointless thing. It's done, over.

We had some encouragement to bid for him, wrongly it turns out as it was probably agent driven, we bid and he decided he still didn't want to come to us.

The fact is we bid £111m for a player and we ended up spending £15m on another.

This leaves us with £96m to spend and a gaping hole in our midfield numbers as two are not to be rellied on.

£96m for over a week and still no one signed.

£96m and lowballing for this kid and threatening to walk away.

£96m and no LCB or RB in sight let alone bid.

-Ā£50m net on a rebuild whilst other positions need strengthening.

Jürgen said he wanted a CB. He said it publicly. He has no new CB. £96m and no new CB for the boss.

Well intl spend that 'Ā£96M' on a player we feel is worth that. Doesn't mean we will just splash that in any old Tom Dick or Harry.
