Nice to see the positivity around Endo. I wish Arne would use him more. You dont captain your country, your club at Stuttgart, and be well regarded by the respected german journos and ex players if you cant play.
Attitude seemed to be spot on last night by all accounts ... playing out of position I believe. Use him more Arne ... he is more than good enough
Great attitude, and he can do the Milner role (come on with 10/15 to go against tiring legs).
Starting him though, that's a different matter. He got done (had his pocket picked) in too many big games last season. He's a 31 yo (32 in two months) who came from a relegation threatened side. We thought we were getting the Energizer bunny, he is anything but. His first display at Newcastle where they were all over us until he went off, we wondered if he was really that slow. He was. The athleticism and speed of play in this league is brutal (as were Atalanta when they overran us) and Endo was often in the middle of the crime scene. His first half vs Palace, who again targeted him as they had done at their place, where he started just over 48 hrs after he was run ragged against Atalanta, that will go down as Jürgen's worst team selection in his time at the club. Getting overrun and losing was predictable. The change was made at half time (think it was Dom who came in for him) but with the pressure ramped up at the business end of the season we snatched at a host of chances and couldn't get it back, and the league started to slip from us.
The Gernan league is piss easy in comparison, and can fool us into thinking someone who looks good there can do the same here (Keita another who found the intensity of this league too much). He was an emergency stop gap last summer when we couldn't bring in Caicedo, but really we should have moved on from him this summer. We need a 5th starting option in central midfield alongside Jones, Mac, Dom and Grav. Endo can do the Milner role no question as his fresh legs coming on late cancels out the disparity in athleticism when he starts.
