      Jarell Quansah Player Thread (D)
      Aug 25, 2023 03:26:20 pm
Well, looks like we could be seeing a bit of this young (20) man this season. He'll probably be on the bench this Sunday at least...
Warrington born, 6ft 3" CB who is quite a smooth player on the ball from what little reels I've seen of him play...
If needed to step up, good luck Jarell....

I've only seen him in the U21 stuff and he does look the business....of course that's against other kids for the most part. Hopefully it translates, but it would be awesome to have another TAA on our hands just at the CB spot.

Big vote of confidence from JĂŒrgen, throwing him in in those circumstances today (don't think Matip was even injured and had to come off?). He did very well, looked solid and played 3 or 4 good incisive passes. Big strong lad as well, looks promising.

I wanna see more of this lad. I can't say I paid attention to his performance in particular, but I never felt any sort of stress from him being there. He slotted in seamlessly and seems to have communicated with his teammates and defended in such a manner that made his cameo very easy on the eye as well as the stress levels of those watching.

Yeah was gonna come in and say similar. Didn't really watch him but the bits I saw, he didn't seem out of place.

Looks assured and physically imposing which I always like in a CB. I think he should be our new Nat occupying that 5th spot.

Matip played the full 100 minutes or whatever and Quansah played 83 (and went off at 1-1) so reflect that in the stats - but have to say - thought he had a pretty impressive debut for a 20 year old centre back in the Premier League.   Fingers crossed.

Nice debut. I would play him next Thursday next to VVD so to rest Matip and Konate.

That's exactly why I decided that he needed his own thread. He did look composed in the preseason games he featured in.
With us not strengthening in the defensive department during the summer also, it looked like Jarell was being primed for the match day bench at least...
I'm looking forward to watching him again on Thursday night in Austria. He's a definite starter in my eyes....

Andy Robertson had plenty to say about Jarell Quansah after Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Wolves on Saturday.

With Virgil van Dijk suspended and Trent Alexander-Arnold injured, the 20-year old was called up for his first Premier League start for the Reds and he didn’t disappoint.

“Excellent from the big man,” said Robertson, who was stand-in captain on the day. “I don’t think many of us helped him in the first half, which, when you’ve got experienced players around, you probably look for help more,” the left-back said.

“We tried to protect him but I think as a collective unit we weren’t as good in the first half, but he was very assured, done his defending very well and then on the ball he was cool and calm.

“He has got a bright future ahead of him but the here and now is pretty good as well and for him to step in at a really tough place to come, a really tough team to play against, and to put in that performance, particularly in the second half, then fair play to him for his first start.”

Sometimes it becomes clear why we didn't spend X amount of millions on a new player from another club.

there isnt a manager or scout in the world that can declare the future of a very young players after a couple of games and neither should they and JĂŒrgen will make sure he is given time to develop over a couple of seasons or more so it had no affect on the summer window that is just wishful thinking.  He is a big unit for sure and quick too lets not pile pressure on him to soon.
