Turns out he's not a sh*t, lazy, Bayern reject, 3rd rate player that couldn't even get in our u23 side after all, who knew?

Early days let see how he dose after a few games, did well today though

Agree of course, needs to keep it going but the signs are promising adapting to a new position.

I think Slot's system will allow Gravenberch to shine.
Would rather have another player beside him than Mac Allister and allow Mac move up the pitch though.

Don’t think Mac played that well today. Not sure whether he was caught between two worlds or what but he just didn’t ever look settled.

He was excellent in the 2nd half today. More of that please. Still not the answer at 6 though. Particularly not against the better sides in the league. Great to see him so involved though.

I don't necessarily think Slot wants a #6 or specialist CDM.  Maybe I'm wrong, but the double pivot where both players can do a bit of everything to a reasonably high standard seems to be what he wants from the engine room.

Either way, I'm pumped for Grav!!  I had really high hopes for him when we signed him as he was exceptional at Ajax before he went to Munich.  I'm really hoping he can build on this performance and settle into the role as part of that double pivot.

He wasn’t brilliant last season but the way he was the scapegoat was a little unfair imo.

He’s a player who very well might be playing in France in 2-3 years time, but imo he has more all around talent than any of our midfielders (bar Gary), and if he puts it all together, he could be one of the best players around in his position.

I’m not sure he is a 6 (well a lone 6) but he’s press resistant and has size. I like how forward thinking he can be with his runs and forward passes around the box. Let’s see what Slot can do with him.

Looked like we were trying a bit more short passing through the middle than usual, with Ryan and Macca always in position to quickly find each other. Reminded me a bit of how Macca played with Caicedo at Brighton, as De Zerbi focused very much on central build-up. Don't think we'll necessarily be like that but it was nice to see that Gravenberch was up to the task of receiving those short passes through the middle and either quickly finding a teammate or turning and progressing the ball himself. Very good performance

Gave him MOTM today. Thought he was very tidy and composed, linked the play really well. Encouraging that he looks like he can play that role in a double pivot. Tougher opponents to come but good signs from him.

Gave Diaz MOTM today but he's certainly a contender.

What was most pleasing was the time when he'd just given the ball away and perhaps the Grav of last season would've just jogged back.....he SPRINTED back and recovered the ball back.

On the ball he was very good as we know he can be, but now he's getting more involved and his defensive side is improving.

What did people think of his first half versus second half? I actually thought he struggled a bit in the first half. Mis placed some passes and gave the ball away a few times. Effort was there for sure though which is good to see.

No notable difference from me other than the tackle which led to his booking, from what I saw he delivered for the 89mins he was on the pitch. 72/77 passes completed so you done well to recall the misplaced ones :D

He did struggle at one point during a period in the first half, but I think the whole team did at that time.

I think he’s brilliant on the turn, short sharp passing, how he gets around the pitch and most and seems to be good in the air too. I’m very happy going into this season with him as a 6 (with Endo back up).
