Liverpool make three changes for this afternoon’s Anfield encounter with Aston Villa.

Joe Gomez comes into defence in place of the suspended Virgil van Dijk, while Curtis Jones starts in midfield.

Darwin Nunez is named in attack after his two-goal display at Newcastle United last weekend, with Wataru Endo and Cody Gakpo the other players making way from last time out.

Jones needs to take this chance as did in the end of last season.

Endo needs a bit more time so Jones gets in. Nunez starts but he can be a tad inconsistent at times, so we have to be patient.

Can't argue with Darwin starting, but Diogo must be wondering what he has to do to cement a place in the 11.  It's a good problem to have and I'm expecting a lot of rotation in the forward positions this season.

Interesting to see if Jones starts at 6 which would suggest that possibly Gravenburch has not been bought for the DM role and instead Klopp is moulding Jones into a 6 to compete with Bajcetic.

Nervous for this, one of those games again that could turn into a hard slog
