I've got a feeling Jürgen will be looking to use the group stage of Europa and the League Cup as opportunities to rotate and keep the usual first team squad fresh for the league. That said, I have a feeling he will look at who he wants to start vs West Ham and will preserve a lot of those players for that match. We should be winning this one comfortably even with a mostly 2nd string lineup.
Vs LASK
Kelleher
Gomez - Matip - VVD - Tsimi
Endo
Gravenberch - Harvey
Doak - Gakpo - Jota
Maybe Quansah for Matip if he's fresh again after his bout of cramp against Wolves - but we don't want to push his young legs too hard so early in his career. Try to get Thiago and Bajcetic some minutes in the 2nd half to get them up to speed. Get Konate 20-30 minutes in the 2nd half as well so he can be ready to start vs West Ham.
Vs West Ham
Ali
Gomez - Konate - VVD - Robbo
Gravenberch
Szobo - Mac
Mo - Darwin - Lucho
I've got a feeling Gravenberch will be taking over as the starting #6 very soon, maybe as early as West Ham. Ryan wouldn't have wanted to trade the bench in Munich for the bench at Anfield, so I'm assuming Klopp likely gave him some assurances about playing time and his vision for him as both an immediate starter and long-term cog in our team. It is possible that Jürgen may persist with Mac as the #6 and use Gravenberch as a #8 but I think the the other way around is more likely.
Darwin is looking like he's comfortable and settled now, so I think that front 3 (Mo, Nunez, and Lucho) is going to be the primary attack with Gakpo and Jota rotating.
If TAA is fit then he takes back the RB spot immediately.
I'm excited to finally start getting into the meat of the season with games every 3-4 days!!!
