A few mistakes cost us the points but it’s an evolving team that’s going to drop points and it’s a far better start than last year

The challenge for the penalty was potentially a red card but thought there was a defender near the line so can see why it wasn’t given

Certainly hadn’t plenty of chances to win it

Fair result. Can't be leading 2-1 at Brighton and expect that's enough. After that shocking Brighton miss late on, maybe we should be thankful for a point.

      Gravenberch miss cost us.

Would help if Diaz could hit the target as well. Begs the question whether Diaz does enough for this team. The crucial numbers - the assists and the goals simply aren't enough or high enough to play at this level. MUST do better should Diaz.

Said the same about Diaz in his thread the other week, still not back to his best - just look at the way Mitoma was beating players and compare it’s night and day.

He’s a class player though so hopefully only a matter of time.

It certainly bounced off VVD body before hitting the arm and also was very close to him

Diaz not been the same since that bad injury last season - he will come good

Think the result was right on balance

One thing is clear amongst the shambolic VAR and referring screw up's and that is if we don't get our finger out and sort out the midfield and start defending with some consistency we'll be lucky to get Europa league spot.

Yes some results went in our favour but that won't save us in the long run obviously.

So after 8 games, would u say we need to use the January window or do we have enough talent around?

Yup exactly, we also I would say have had the toughest fixture list of the top 4 teams imo

Newcastle will perhaps beat most teams at home this season as will Brighton

On another topic, does anyone else think we have a weakness in one midfield position ? It feels like if we had someone very good in the 6 role, we would be better but right now it seems like a weak point. I thought Thiago would be that man to slot in but this season looks bad for him as he hasn’t even had a pre season I believe and is injured again

I hope we can go again in jan and get a solid number 6 of quality as that could be the difference for us really fighting close to the title imo

I actually believe we will win our next 4 and would be disappointed if we don’t and then people will take us seriously again, not that it matters as it will be evident soon

Would have taken a draw before the game, happy enough with it after. It's a tough place to go, plenty of the top teams will drop points there.

What do you mean, I just always post what I think but I’m always honest in what I believe to be the case

Last season we got battered, this season I would say this was a 50-50 game and a fair result against a team I believe could get 5th this season. A team that dominated Manchester United at old Trafford and we could have nicked it had the experienced players kept their cool

We are not going to win every game but what I look at is the performance and we are now fighting like rocky 3 in eye of the tiger last fight, last season we were like rocky 3 the first fight for most of the season

I'll take the point, but its always disappointing to drop the other two when you were leading at some point in the game.

In terms of the game itself there was plenty of good and less good stuff. Some of the good things are that we continue to be very dangerous going forward. If we manage to break through whatever the opposition has in the middle of the park, we're always of huge danger in the final third. Both Salah and Alisson continue to be huge players for us with no sign of slowing down. We manage to make adjustments during the game that bear fruits.

With that said, we have problems that have been there for a long time and seem to continue no matter what. The most obvious one is that tendency to concede the first goal and fairly early at that. It's like we're switched of for the firs 25 minutes or so of every game and its only a question of time before a very bad pass is made and we're giving the other team a scoring opportunity served on a plate. I said that we manage to make changes during the game and those changes bear fruit, but there's also a negative side to it which is that we seem to react very slowly. Once its apparent to everyone that we have a problem in an area, it takes us 15-20 minutes to do anything about it and sometimes its too late by the time we do do something about it. Today we also displayed problems when it came to set pieces which we usually don't (at least as far as I can remember).

I'm okay with the point away from home to Brighton who are team who will always have a better time against bigger opposition than they will against smaller ones. With that said, for the 100th time, we need to stop conceding the first goal and become proactive rather than reactive. We have to dictate the play from the start of the game rather than spend 20 minutes lost, concede one and then wake up.
