Can see in that pic, Big Virg stomping on his hand.

We should have got a penalty for that!  :D

So sounds like Konaté and Bradley out until January. Huge blow. With Trent just back from a hamstring, will be incredibly risky to start him Sunday Wednesday Saturday. Both Gomez and Quansah gonna be needed. Plus Tsimikas out until who knows when

Would people have rather lost on Wednesday and not seen Bradley and Konate ruled out for weeks?

I took a lot of sh*te for suggesting we play the kids in midweek and nothing during the game or since has convinced me otherwise to be honest.

Nah. I did flirt with that idea myself but I think the psychological effect of beating RM will be pretty huge.

It's not ideal having Konate n Bradley out but Gomez or Quansah are good enough to step up (and Trent ain't a bad RB).

I understand your pov. But I guess injuries can happen at anytime. Id love to have konate and Bradley starting sunday ... but they could have both been injured in that game.

Gutted for both of them. Konate has been a beast this season. And Bradley is just awesome ... no other words for him.

Both players would have been desperate to play, a European night match at Anfield against Real Madrid...it's a special fixture and they'd have been gutted to not feature....the injuries are just bad luck. We'll be OK without them for a while.

I’d have taken a draw and not seen either injured.

Here’s hoping Arne takes a different approach to the next 3 CL games. I really worry if he thinks we need to be at full strength to get a result against the likes of Girona, Lille and PSV.

I get you but was it that special a game really? I don’t think many Liverpool supporters are going to remember it in years to come to be honest.

I thought it was a psychological boost to finally get a clean win against Real. Real have been a bogy team for us.  For me it was important as the chances of playing them again soon in KO stages is going to be higher especially with the position of both teams.  Konate is injury prone which is the reason some  were screaming for another centre half.   But that said I do agree that we should be more calculating in the next Champions League fixtures with us all but qualified for the next round.

It was special on the night

It was special for the players

We haven’t beaten them since 2009 and it will have given them a big lift

Exactly. I remember Brendan starting a weakened side against Madrid 10 years ago in the CL and got pelters.

And as far as I recall, I don't think we've qualified for anything just yet. So the notion of resting players / starting a less than full strength XI in that context just comes across as arrogant and extremely misguided.

Bizarre, irrational thinking to say that we shouldn't have started Bradley or Konate.
