Thiago Alcantara has suffered another "annoying" injury setback - but Liverpool are hopeful Cody Gakpo will return after the international break.Thiago hasn't featured for JĂźrgen Klopp's side since undergoing surgery on a long-standing hip problem in May, with his last start coming back in February in the 3-0 Premier League defeat at Wolves.Having returned to team training in August, the Spaniard was struck by a further problem a few weeks later as he closed on a return. And Klopp has revealed the 32-year-old is still no nearer to being available with teenage midfielder Stefan Bajcetic - who has made one start since March - also remaining on the sidelines after his own fitness setback.âItâs just, for him (Thiago) especially, itâs annoying," said the Reds boss. "He's now had two setbacks in the rehab. Not massive but enough to take him off the pitch again.âObviously not the same injury, not at all, but a bit similar. And as annoying as it is for Stefan Bajcetic - he was there, played a few minutes, and then felt something else.âThatâs how it is after long-term injuries from time-to-time. I donât know, I will not pressure on that (when they can return). If they will be back after international break, we will see. Hopefully, would be cool."Conor Bradley, who began at right-back in pre-season before sustaining a stress fracture of his back in July, is closing on a return although Liverpool are being careful with the fitness of the 20-year-old Northern Ireland international.âConor is on the way back," said Klopp. "He is running. In that age group and with these kind of injuries, you tend to give them rather three weeks more than not enough because it has to better.âIt has to do with the growing process of the body. Stuff like this. I couldnât get this injury anymore, let me say it like that. And thatâs why they need a bit of time.âGakpo, though, is likely to return later this month having been forced off with a knee injury at half-time during last weekend's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur having suffered the problem before scoring Liverpoolâs equalising goal. The Dutchman left London with his right knee in a brace and was subsequently ruled out of the Redsâ Europa League clash with Union SG on Thursday and will also miss Sunday's Premier League trip to Brighton. But Klopp is hopeful Gakpo will be fit to return once club action resumes after the forthcoming international break.âCody has a good chance that he will be back (after the break),â he said. âAlready out of the brace, he walks normal around here. So from all the very, very bad opportunities and possibilities injury-wise, we nearly got the best, but he is still injured.â
small hammy injury for konate, out for a couple of weeks, misses france games
Any news on Gomez?
Not yet.I dont think any of the current injuries are serious.Expect most back after International break.Robbo, Bajectic and Thiago, all January ish.
Imagine having Thiago fit, he could be the key to a great second half of the season.
Imagine him as the 6, with macca and sobo in front. top class trio.
Just imagine because he will not survive the EPL.We should ship him in January for few quid.Konate needs improve his fitness too or else I do not know.
Forgot about Thiago tbh, he seems to be so injury prone since joining, I cannot remember him putting together a decent run of performances, since he has been at the club !
He had an hip opp. Not a small injury, like usual muscle strains tears that happen to most players at some point.Actually if I remember he had 1 minor hip opp, then there was a complication and he needed a more serious hip opp.
He just doesn't play footy at Christmas.
l o l, Fair weather player.
Thiago aint going anywhere, klopp & pep have talked about how class it will be when he is back.Perhaps next summer it may be on the cards, but even then I fancy he might want to stay around and make up for this long injury lay off.
I really not. He is not adequate for our league. I would only accept him to stay here next Summer if he is given a contract based on how many games he is fit to play.
