When one of your greatest ever players - and a man who lives his life impeccably for a professional athlete - has to come out and say "I dunno what the F**k is happening".......I think it's fair to say the management team are making a c**t of it.

You can dress it up etc but F**k me the window was a mess and this suggests that when JĆ¼rgen went out the door the owners went......."best get to work then eh, who does this sh*t?".

I'm sure they'll get there. I just hope it's not without a player who seems to me to be crying out to get things sorted.

Kenny played some of his best football at 32, physically Mo is a different animal altogether and I think he's got years left.

Let's cherish him, let him know he's a legend and not make ourselves look like small time tits.

This is what I mean when I say things can get away from the club quickly.
Not signing a cdm and lcb can snowball into not sorting out contracts for 3 of the best players in the world.
Suddenly then January and next Summer become Mountains.

The club need to sort out the 3 contracts and then work on getting Slot who he needs to move the team forward.

The club rejected Ā£150mil for Mo last summer , they clearly see him as part of the immediate future last summer

So is there a different thinking with Hughes and Slot ?

Itā€™s more annoying that this is putting a cloud over the start and the media are leaping on it

It's been rumbling away in the background and most of us just hoped that the club would get a few players
in the summer, as players and the manager had said the squad needed a refresh, and that this would be
      dealt with afterwards.

Salah saying nobody has talked to him about a new contract, following on from the Summer,
isn't exactly filling people with confidence. But then he can't sign a contract if he hasn't been presented with one.

It's a strange one for sure and by the way Mo is talking sounds like he sees himself here for longer.

I'm that scenario you get round a table sooner rather than later

I expect itā€™s just a matter of time and it will get sorted either way

They have a break now before the next game , the window is shut so sit down and get it sorted

They arenā€™t stupid so I have no doubt they would be looking at it

Itā€™s shame itā€™s headlines for Sky and the red tops as opposed to the Mancs getting smashed

You know how this could have been avoidedā€¦ā€¦if the club had sorted these threeā€™s future during the summer when it should have been taken care of. I mean you yourself told us that Trentā€™s deal was done and dusted weeks agoā€¦..

Itā€™s not a shame itā€™s a tactic by them. Better to try and destabilise us than have to criticise the media darlings over at OT

What's the word on the street LiP? We know you're the go to guy for these kind of news since you so eloquently broke the Trent extension 2 months ago.

Indeed it does but thankfully unlike the club we can do 2 things at once. We can say we want contracts sorted out and we can say how well we've played both at the same time.

Which is why I cannot buy the absolute bollocks that we couldn't have said goodbye to JĆ¼rgen and sorted player contracts out at the same time.

I dont think it needs looking at in great detail by a new regime that a player like Trent for example shouldn't be offered big money on a 5 year deal. Unless the club was looking at Gareth Southgate you can surely safely assume the new manager would quite enjoy having a player of that quality here and tied down to a long term deal.

Summer was a big change with Klopp going

What changes have been made in the background who knows , maybe they are looking at the detail too much

I still think it will be sorted sooner rather than later

It's inconceivable that Trent won't be offered a new long term deal...it will happen. Slightly more complicated with the other two because of their ages; although I expect the club to offer them both new contracts.....Why not already?  perhaps it's a difficult exercise, weighing up unknowns and fixing a value on it....we're talking about tens/hundreds of millions of pounds.
....or equally as inconceivable, the club might not want them.

Do you think it's a possibility that although your pals the owners don't make day to day decisions at the club they could have hired Hughes/Edwards with a brief of getting player average age down and money spent on wages down?

Would that possibly explain the impasse on offering 2 ageing players on top whack new deals?

Is it at least possible because I think that's where I'm landing at with this particular conundrum.

Why would they do that 🤷ā€ā™‚ļø what would the age profile matter to the owners

Thought that was quite obvious to be fair.

"Speculation on players shouldn't include those of a certain age," he wrote on Twitter. "We are not going to be successful by merely filling short-term needs at LFC."
