Pre-Match: Brentford v Liverpool Sat 17th Feb 12:30 Kick Off
      Feb 11, 2024 12:30:18 pm
Big game coming up against Brentford, who are in indifferent form, winning 2 of their last 6. They currently sit 14th in the table, 6 points above the drop zone.

We have a home game against Luton 4 days after this then the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea 4 days after that, so rotation will be needed given the injuries we currently have.

Alisson and Gomez should return from illness. Bradley will return from compassionate leave and Salah is returning to first team training on Monday. TAA will probably miss this one given he’s injured his knee again. Elliott deserves a start after his display at the weekend but he’s so effective from the bench, it’s a difficult one. Brentford are a big strong team.

With the above considered I’d go with this line up, potential subs in brackets.

      Alisson

      Gomez (Bradley)
      Konate
      Van Dijk (c)
      Robertson

      Mac Allister (Elliott)
      Endo
      Jones (Gravenberch)

      Jota (Salah)
      Nunez (Gakpo)
      Diaz

      Subs:

      Kelleher (GK)
      Bradley
      Quansah
      Tsimikas
      Elliott
      Gravenberch
      Clark
      Salah
      Gakpo

      Injured:

      Alexander-Arnold
      Matip
      Szoboszlai
      Thiago
      Bajcetic
      Doak

Going for a 1-3 win for the Reds

Alisson Gomez Konate Virgil Robbo Endo Mac Jones Salah Nunez Diaz

Subs: Kelleher Kostas Quansah Grav Harvey Gakpo Jota

Reckon we'll sneak a 1-0, won't be a pretty game given the negative manner the Danish Southgate sets his team.

No, 1 draw and 1 loss so far.

Won all 3 home games, just come unstuck when we've gone there.

Give toney the chances Burnley spurned yesterday and play like that and we won't be winning there this season either.

True but we'll likely have Ali Konate and 1 of Gomez/Bradley back or someone that can at least muster into sprint at RB. That's 3 key cogs in our defence.

Every game is different, I don't see Brentford being as adventurous and giving it as much of a go like Burnley did tbh.

They've scored six goals against us in the previous two fixtures at their place and with Toney back we'll be doing well to go there and keep a clean sheet. Any f*cking win will do. Dog ugly, don't care. We'll need a superhuman effort from here to the end of the season to have any chance of winning the league.

It’s weird season - against any traditional top 6 (bar Chelsea) we don’t really look like winning.

Yet against anyone else, even if we’re behind there’s a good chance and belief we can win.

To me, that’s unlike a klopp team.

Realistically I can’t see us beating Spurs, City or United.

Just hope city and Arsenal drop points again.

I agree. It's draws that's held us back. We've lost the head to head against arsenal. The head to heads are important.

We need to be top when city play arsenal and win our game that round. We just have to win every game. Nothing else will do.

Next week looks like a banana skin. Toney will be licking his lips

We all know there are no easy games in the EPL, Brentford away is no exception, however I’d like to think that we’ve got a bit more in us quality wise to go there and get the three points,
We weren’t at our best Vs Burnley, out of shape, imbalanced and we scraped thru in the end, against the Bees we’ll be better equipped with Konate back in the fold, and young Conor back as rwb, …still no Mo yet although I think he’ll be back for the final so we might see him get some minutes….id go with this….

                              Alisson
             Bradley. Konate. Virgil. Robbo
                              Endo
                 Macca.             Jones
             Diaz.          Jota.       Nunez

Mo, I  don’t think will start but if he did I’d go Diaz left Jota central & Mo right, then we could unleash the beast on the hour, Nunez,
It’s at the bac Jürgen has the real headache, Gomez has been imperious so it’s a bit harsh on him to leave him out altogether, Konate should be a shoe in too , Virgil is Captain and has not been his usual brilliant best of late, for me I’d rest him, controversial, maybe but we need every man as close to their optimum as possible for the run in,
Robbo has the armband he’s hit the ground running since his return, not so for Trent he was clearly not ready for his return and now we’re paying the price,
So for me I’d play a back 5 of….Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Gomez & Robbo, Endo, Macca & Jones in midfield, and Nunez, Jota & Diaz up top,
Like I said Virgil needs a wee break just to recharge his batteries, we have the tools to do it so let’s be smart and use them, this game for sure perhaps the next as well, then he’ll be fresh and raring for the final and beyond !!

Whatever way the Boss goes it will be battle. They can be hard nut to crack. Physical, set pieces, Toney can unsettle defenders. Boss might ease Conor back into it. The midfield can't loll about. Endo is always on high alert but all the front 6 will have to chip in.

Tough choice between Gomez and Bradley here. For this one I'd go with Joey. Going forward I'd hope Bradley can make the position his own. From what I've seen so far ... not including the goals or assists, he just looks a quality right back at both ends of the pitch. Great attitude ... Great future ahead of him.

This and all other games are now 'Must Win'  So prepare yourselves for a bumpy ride. It's not just about availability, it's also attitude. I don't think anyone means to have a negative attitude, and they all probably put it all in. It just looks suspect sometimes if they can't impose themselves on a game.
It happens. Some times the ball just doesn't drop for you, but they gotta try and shake it off. Give their head a wobble and get stuck in.

We need to have the mentality monsters attitude again till the end of the season.

Having said that, I've still gone for 1-3 to the mighty RED MEN.

Do think we miss szob though.

Nothing matters now other than winning. City won at Brentford. So did Arsenal ... and so must we.

First game of the weekend so let's put a marker down and see how the others get on once we've gone 5 points clear.

Ali; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Jota, Nunez.

Just think this game suits Gomez a bit more than Bradley given Brentford's physicality.

      Hamstring for Alli?

Another month sidelined there I'd guess.

Definitely seem to get more than our fair share of injuries.

Kelleher has proven am able stand in though so shouldn't be the end of the world.

Tricky enough game but still one we should win.

Yea it's not this game though is it...we have City in 3 weeks. If he's not here for that we may have a problem.

We're going to have to fight like hell to win this. Early kick off, injuries, potentially tricky opponent. 2-1 to us. Bradley at RB, Mo on the bench to be introduced later in the game.

A win tomorrow is essential, going for a 2  1 victory to the Reds, in what could be a tricky game.

If Ali is out, Kelleher will do ok.
Joe or Bradley at r back is ok and mo is back. So not all doom and gloom.
We get the rythm going, we’ll win this.

So we’ve got about 5 minutes before the teams are announced. I give us a good chance of sneaking in another injury there.
