      Another big game on Sunday!

Can’t see Konate returning before the international, I just don’t see Klopp risking him. Unsure on what’s up with Clark either after him going down late in the game last night.

      Kelleher

      Gomez
      Quansah
      Van Dijk (c)
      Robertson

      Szoboszlai
      Endo
      Mac Allister

      Salah
      Nunez
      Diaz

      Subs:

      Adrian (GK)
      Bradley
      Nallo
      Tsimikas
      Elliott
      Gravenberch
      Clark/McConnell
      Gakpo
      Danns

      Injured:

      Alisson
      Alexander-Arnold
      Konate
      Matip
      Thiago
      Jones
      Bajcetic
      Clark?
      Jota
      Doak

      I think we’ll win this one 3-1.

Finally starting to look like what we would have called a strong 11 at the start of the season and look how many are still out injured. The good thing to take from this injury crisis has been the emergence of so many outstanding young talents. Got massive hopes for Bradley and Quansah in particular, they have beeen exceptional.

Is there a chance Bajcetic makes the bench here? Konate as well maybe? I think I heard they had both been training earlier in the week. Don’t expect either of them to feature to be honest but always good to see players come back.

If Konate isn't 100% and can't start/play then Quansah otherwise the team kinda picks itself, not for the first time.

So here we go again gathering cups in May, yet another trip to Anfield south, yet another alteration to the Champions wall and yet another battering of the MUtants, will Mo get another trick of hats, Will Macca get another spot kick, and will Joe finally break his duck ?

All of these are feasible possibilities and you’d be fool to bet against it happening, jeez do I love these encounters, in particular when you know you have the upper hand and on paper at least we could hand out another severe battering, let’s hope so, Man City they are not, and just look what we did to them, it’s hard to imagine them doing us over, be honest, it is isn’t it, but I do imagine that Klopp will want us to give it all we have, and we will,

So Eric and his band of no hopers will try as the might but deep down they know don’t they, even at their best they know if we just up a gear or two, they won’t cope , shame isn’t it  !!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Kelleher, Bradley, Gomez, Virgil, Robbo, Endo, Szloboslai, Macca, Diaz, Nunez, Salah.

Joe gets the nod infront of Quansah for me. He's a centre back. No better option at left back than Robbo.

Konate set to miss this one.

Robertson playing 90 means I can see us going with the same back five as City. Seems like Robbo has slipped down the pecking order (yes I know Gomez has played well but the side is much better balanced with a left footer at left back).

      Back 4 for me..Bradley..Gomez..VVD. .Robbo.....and..Dom.Endo ,Macca....Mo Nunez Diaz.

State of the game thanks to VAR screw up's, is that we have to be aware of who the ref is. John Brooks..and Tim Robinson on VAR..................... ..." We'll have to knock them out..we won't get it on points"..

Possibly but that leaves Joe or Robbo. Robbo gives better balance and works well with Diaz. Hard to leave Joe out though and it's just the way the Boss calls it and resting Joe V SP at HT,  might be significant.

So we're picking quansah over gomez at centre back and Gomez, a right footed centre back at left back over robbo are we?

Robbo gets injured and now we relegate him down the ranks because Gomez did a decent job in his absence. Bizarre. Obviously all those years being one of the best left backs in the world, assists and rock solid defensively are extinguished in a few months.

Gomez should never play at CB ever again, didn't even want him to play there last night as I knew he had a moment like his header for their goal, Quansah absolutely in for him.

Robbo very good when he came on at City, and solid again last night almost playing on the left of a back 3 before moving CB when Kostas came on.

Bradley starts at right back. Again, as with the left back situation, Joe isn't a right back either. Nor is he a 6. He's a centre half and he can do a good job when required at full back.

For me, it's konate and Quansah who Joe is competing with to partner Virgil. And of the 3 of them I'd be picking Joe. Konate I doubt makes this weekend. And Quansah has plenty of time. An embarrassment of riches for sure.

Whether we play Robbo at left back or Gomez or whoever really I fancy us to win. With the international break on the horizon there is no excuse not to leave it all out there. This is their last chance of a trophy and of salvaging anything from a disastrous season, so it is fitting that it falls to us to inflict the knockout blow.

In the pre match conflab the Boss said regarding Joe.." we wouldn't be where we are without Joe". Think that's nearly a clear indication that Joe will start. 3 options I suppose - both full back positions and partnering VVD.

I'd rather have Robbo at left back even though Joe has done well there. I'd go for Joe central with VVD. Quansah has been brilliant but that's my call. Elliott's energy has lifted the side more than once but he might be benched. But Dom has to put in a performance to keep the shirt.Same for everybody.

One thing was obvious for United playing City week or two ago and that is if their outplayed, they don't fight to stay in it.

Anyone expecting utd to try out play us like they did city?
I’m expecting a 10 man defence parked in and around their box, just like the prem game. Route 1 Rashford up top.
Just can’t see them taking us on in an open game. Ten shags ain’t got the bottle. They’ll try and nik one on the break when we get impatient or try and hold out for E T and pens.
I expect our possession to be like 68-70 per cent while they sit back and park the bus 🤷‍♂️

Can't see any other tactic than one early in season as you say use Garnacho and Rashfords pace . Why I would rather have Harvey than Dom more guile around the area when it's conjested . Would also like to see some quality crosses and utilise a strength of Darwin and his aerial ability

Don't know why but we don't have a good record at all v Utd in FA Cup, but in the League Cup it's the other way around. I remember Croucihe's header at Anfield in 2006 for a win but not any other wins.
Even in 2021 they beat us then a few weeks later in the league we stuffed them at OT 4-2.
Hopefully can change this trend on Sunday.

If we start on a high tempo, giving them nothing, then game should go according to plan or as near as dammit. They'll only put the effort in if we encourage them with a sloppy lackluster start.

They go behind and they have a couldn't careless attitude. Worst mentality of a United team since 73/74. Ten Bob Note just doesn't Boss them enough. Everybody loves Jürgen, rightly so,  but take the piss and you'll find out how 'nice' he can be.

The fact Joe came off on Thursday means he's starting tomorrow, just a question of whether it's for Robbo or Bradley. Suspect it'll be the latter.

Rest of the team pretty well picks itself.

They will park the bus and hope to knick something but we should have enough to open them up.

We haven't sacked one of their Manager's for a while.  Let's hand the Hag his P45 might be difficult with Southgate still in a job until the summer, but hey they might bring Ole back on the wheel or better still Rooney until then!

At Anfield they brought the double decker and jizzed about how they coulda won with whatshisface's chance.
      Please.
We're the better team, but the better team doesn't always win.
It's their Cup Final, the only trophy left, and it's us at theirs. Massive, much bigger game for them than us.
If I was sh*t like them I'd probably play like Burnley, kick lumps out of us, dive about looking for frees, get 11 behind the ball until they get a chance to break and they'll bomb forward like seagulls following the trawler.
The only negative about us winning is it puts another nail in Ten Hags coffin - and I want the tw*t to stay !!!
Avoid complacency, nothing is a given, we need to work, press, play with conviction.
We've players coming back from injury and would expect Salah to start. Mac to come back in too after break midweek.
Choice to be made between Quansah and Gomez at CB - I'd go Quansah there with VVD, and start Gomez LB.
Even if Trent fit would play Bradley RB.
Huge plus that we can start our first choice midfield - Dom Mac Endo.
Up front just hope Nunez can stay onside and not be too wasteful. Diaz gets a chance to score after squandering chances against Shitty.
What a pass from Mo to Diaz for his chance, good to have him back.

It's the where will Joe play debate. 40 games..18 at Right back...15 at left back...5 at center back...2 defensive midfielder.

      https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178

I'd go for today...Kells...Bradley. ..Joe...VVD...Robbo. Robbo is better going forward down the left. Last season Joe lost his way a bit but a confident Joe can play anywhere along the back line.

We need to dominate as we are back here after 2 home games.

Agree. Joe is a right footed centre back. He did a good job covering for Robbo. But he's back now. With Matip out and konate injured this is Joe's chance to get his place in his proper position, where I've no doubt he wants to play. Robbo's the best in the league in his position.

However I don't think it will pan out this way today . Not long to wait.

As we are competing on three remaining fronts it feels very much like the pressure is on Utd, whose supporters will be sensitive to signs of weakness and could quickly become restive if things don't go their way. If we can be cool and professional and despatch these c*nts in a bit of style what a way to go into the international break  8)
