I remember Larry Lloyd very well. May he rest in peace.

He was a pure "stopper" centre-half, more in the style of Ron Yeats than Alan Hansen.

Bill Shankly signed him from Bristol Rovers for £60,000 in 1969.  He played every match in the 1972-3 Championship winning team, partnered in central defence by Tommy Smith.  He scored a headed goal against Borussia Moenchengladbach in the UEFA Cup win that season.

After leaving Anfield for Coventry in 1974, he joined Forest.  He won League title and European Cup medals under Brian Clough.

      Thank you, big man.

I remember Larry as one of the best central defenders of his time while at Anfield. Clearly good enough to achieve great things after he left as well.

Lots of memories.    R.I.P. Big fella.
