This, for me, sums up perfectly the problem with the modern game at our club and beyond.....because you earn more you have to play, fook form, fook only back from injury, you play because you earn more......and imagine being the higher earner, what pushes you on? Ill play anyway because my wage dictates it
Alisson played straight away because he is the better GK and the clubs clear number 1 at this moment in time ,

      What they earn is irrelevant

What control is this? We've lost our record of the best defence in the league, since the keeper was changed.

He's winning with the squad that Jürgen built for him, a year older and wiser. If he had to radically overhaul the side that Jürgen had to when he arrived, we wouldn't win a thing.

Instead of bitching on here and treating VAR like your own personal lovechild, why didn't you apply for the job of replacing Jürgen, you've clearly got more credentials than the likes of Arne Slot and Rafa Benitez.

Some fans can't do anything right. Imagine Slot's criticism if we are in the 4th place or lower. Just imagine.

Enjoy the ride, not just the destination.

      On Arne....

Doing an amazing job. Thought he would do well but not this well so soon

Hopefully hes backed if he wants a player or 2 to add depth to the squad for the remainder

We're top of the league Brian and there have been times in the past when signings were essential through injuries but no action was taken, let's hope we have more luck with injuries this term and like Jürgen’s title winning season when the injuries did not derail him.

Well on their promotion season I think they brought in 21 players.
Not sure how many are still there, but they clearly aren’t afraid to invest

The guy who owns them is throwing money at them

Spent a fair bit and obviously had issues with PSR

Some clubs have those type of owners

Think the only player still there from 3 seasons ago is Ryan Yates

      Williams
      Gibbs White
      Awoniyi

Plus Wood , Henderson and Yates still form the team that come up

But bought a lot of players

What you’re forgetting Stuey is those players that were perhaps needed would have had to been available and the most important factor fit into the system, we don’t just buy Willy nilly and hope they come good, we had a system at play under Jürgen and I expect we have a system under Arne albeit a slightly different one, of which we have yet to find out of course, ie; bringing in his own players,
I don’t expect it to be massively different from before but I do expect the same mantra in that we only sign those available, and are in the age bracket that offers longevity, have the right persona, have versatility and really good at what they do, ie; Quality,

I’m sure there are certain individuals that have been sounded out as possible replacements in particular the positions where they will be required most, LB, RB, CB, CM, and strengthening our attack, money will alway be a issue for us, depending on how you look at how we are run, some say FSG are greedy F***ing Muther fuckers and are only in it for the profit they will make when they decide to cut & run, others will see and perhaps appreciate that we are never in debt, are run with efficiency and only spending on the right players that fit like jigsaw pieces and have us competing for top honours without having to spunk billions trying to keep up with the cheating Jones’s of this corrupt ridden world we call sport !!!

      I know which one I prefer !!

That was a test for Arne today at half time and he came through it pretty well. Should've made the subs a bit sooner imo but they were brave when he did make them. Went for the win and nearly got it.

Surprised he didn't start Jota I must admit (well not surprised, cos Jota played 90 against Accrington, but was surprised at that). Other than that, more signs that our new manager knows what he's doing.

Their first XI cost just over the price we paid for Alisson and Van Dijk.

I thought it was an odd thing for Slot to bring up pre match.

Watched a podcast with Martin O'Neil anyway and he said the only one left from is squad was Yates

Looked a bit tired today Arne. I hope the players can get the win at weekend and get him some well earned kip.

Indeed. I think he knows all hope of a failrly easy run to the title is looking unlikely now. Hope he can get us winning again.

      Who'd have thought it eh.

Surely people aren't trying to read too much into a football coach looking a wee bit tired once in a while but wouldn't surprise me.
