JW was a true unsung hero of our mid 80s teams. He chipped in with quite a few cracking goals from the midfield in his time here, and was quite prolific from the midfield...

The medical examination for Wark's transfer somewhat surprised him:

"I was rather taken aback when the doctor entered the Anfield boot room", Wark said. "He was small in stature and I could not help but detect the smell of alcohol on his breath as he introduced himself to me. I was even more surprised when he announced we would stay put to conduct the medical examination. "He took my blood pressure, looked at the reading and muttered 'that's fine'. Looking at booking hospitality tickets for Dec 14, Fulham. Just terrified at coming all the way from the U.S and something like a carabao cup game getting my game pushed back. They play in the UCl on either the 10/11 and the 14th is a Saturday, so that's shouldn't be an issue, right?

Not really showing my age, more my knowledge that John Wark played for both us and Ipswich. As it happens, my age prevented me from ever seeing him play for Liverpool. Or anybody else really, just the odd game here and there at the very end of his career.
