      Premier League: 2024-2025
      Aug 08, 2024 09:02:54 am
A new season beckons, and best of luck to our beloved Arne Slot and his wonderful band of merry men... YNWA

      A bit of pre-season news:
Crystal Palace and Wolves will potentially be subject to some questions about their sponsors.

      https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1800900262498091518.html

Crystal Palace in particular being sponsored by a betting company that there's next to no information on, anywhere, with their (living) founding member apparently being the same person as a (deceased) TikToker - though no doubt the "due diligence" was done....

Might be an interesting one to revisit in a few months....

Looks like Pedro Neto is on his way to Chelsea for €63 million. They must have bought about 30 players in the last 12 months
The lad is 24 and has 15 career goals in 143 appearances.....

Darwin NĂșñez got 18 goals for us (all comps) last season......

But there will be lads out there who would have wanted NĂșñez sold and Neto brought in....

Glad this one has been put to bed. Chelsea must have a squad of 40+ players by now.....

      Dope....

      From the BBC......

Football clubs often fail to dish out real punishments to their players over poor behaviour, but Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham have got tough with Yves Bissouma.

The midfielder has been given an internal one-match suspension for filming himself on social media taking laughing gas, which is illegal in the United Kingdom.

Bissouma is still training with the squad but has been told in no uncertain terms that he fell short of the club’s professional standards and will be unavailable for the upcoming game at Leicester.

Interestingly, this is the fourth suspension Bissouma has received under Postecoglou after two red cards and a ban for accumulating five yellow cards last season.

Postecoglou's comments also set a wider tone at the beginning of the season that standards - both on and off the pitch - must be met.

Postecoglou said there is now pressure on Bissouma to behave responsibly and “regain trust” from now on. He also has a big fight for his place after splitting minutes with Pape Sarr, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in midfield during pre-season, with Rodrigo Bentancur having not been available until the last match after the Copa America.

This is a crossroads in Bissouma’s career and it will be on him to respond positively or he risks fading away.

It’s a goal that fits the game it’s been - a mid table bore lacking in any real quality

New signing will get the headlines.. but Fulham were the better team tonight. They were unfortunately so poor with the ball that it was a comedy of errors (how did they waste that 2 v 1?!!!) Anyways, the game was summed up brilliantly in those last moments when the Fulham player completely kicked air and missed the ball, and it ended up with Garnacho to pop it in the empty net, but he woefully sliced it out for a goal kick.
