Poor first half, incredible 2nd where every man in red stepped it up. Seen this before.

Interesting to hear Slot talk about players not winning enough duels in both defence and attack and that Quansah was not an injury ... I didn't think he played too badly, certainly no worse than any of the other defenders.

It was also interesting to hear talk about the importance of the team when asked how Salah and how important a player he was.

Very candid, and correct analysis of our first half. Doesn't bother, by the look of it with footballing diplomacy. If we don't match the standard he expects, he'll say it as it is. Good start.

Some hairy moments .... van dyk lucky 2nd half springs to mind. Plenty of players out there who looked like they didnt get much of a break over the summer and not had much of a preseason.

Big plusses were Jota and Salah. These 2 compliment eachother so well. Salah is as important to Jota as Jota is to Salah. When one is missing its not the same and the quality behind them isnt there. If Jota stays fit he will bag 25 plus this season.

Nice to start with a clean sheet. Long may that continue.

Attitude in any sport is huge. And for a long time the attitude of too many of our lads is ah its only ipswich, burnley, watford etc....that firat half today stunk of it. Won no 2nd balls no 50 50s. Yes you allow that they are on a high but the players should expect that

2nd half, half time bolloking/talking to sort it??, we were what you would expect us to be. Maybe a tactical tweek helped also.

Slot can be ruthless since it is not 'his' team. He was with Quansah, Darwin, Endo etc.

Yup. They will all get games,  it pretty obvious there are loads ahead of them in pecking order

Bad first half, much much better second one. Konate gave us something we didn't have in the first half in terms of moving the ball from the back to the front. Much more mobile with the ball at his feet than Quansah. 

Other than that, we'll have to wait and see. Can't judge a team, favourably or unfavourably before we've got a good sample size of games (7 to 10 games in my opinion).

The first half was abysmal, I don't think anyone was being hysterical, the players were terrible in that first 45 mins.

Ali 6 - Nothing too troubling, 1 or 2 comfortable stops…..didn’t look great with the ball to feet. Still too indecisive and takes too long, 1 really poor pass.

Trent 8 - first half a 7, 2nd a 9. Bar a 5-10min early 2nd half I thought he defended really well tbf. Showed off his class with his passing.

Quansah 7 - Actually thought he did ok on the whole besides one moment on the sideline where he was skinned for pace, sub seemed harsh but turned out well in the end so can’t argue too much and in a way I admire the ruthlessness from Arne.

Virgil 7 - Thought he was a little off (slow?) today, maybe a little more casual than usual.

Robbo 6 - Really poor first half, better 2nd to his credit. Rather Kostas started as he didn’t look fit at all out there.

Grav 9! - Different class for me. Gave him Motm.

Mac 6 - didn’t really notice him on the ball much.

Szobo 7.5- really poor first half…..arguably our best player 2nd half. Some filthy passes and pieces of play, anyone got a gif of that drag back then pass to Trent?

Mo 8 - Again like a lot of others came alive in the 2nd half. Goal and an assist to help win us the game, can’t argue much with that even if he’s capable of better.

Jota 7 - Thought he was very quiet in our build up but a very well taken goal. Docked .5 off for the missed sitter.

Diaz 6.5 - Final ball wasn’t there but a constant threat/outlet.

Konate 8 - very assuring, can’t recall anything he did wrong. 1 brilliant goal bound block.

Other subs only had 10-15mins so not going to rate.

It was just a bit clumsy , we still dominated possession but lacked a clinical edge and gifted the fbe ball a few times

First half was typical of them finding their feet nobody was bad . Second half could have really destroyed them but performance just got better and better. Any news on Joe Gomez

I don’t think attitude was the issue and not sure where that’s come from , it was just a case of being off the pace a little and a bit of rustiness

Happy with the result but…. First half was awful second to every ball, passes short and fortunate to not be down at half time, second half once we got going we were much better, but wasteful in the number of chances we missed, should have been 5 or 6 nil, though Diaz had plenty of the ball but could have finished a lot better, Salah Trent looked sharp and dangerous, Mac and Slob were good. Don’t really know about Gravenbach was both good and bad, Robbo wasn’t great, but a slot wasn’t scared to make the changes when needed

 From all of the corners we had we we wasted corner after corner, we have to take more from set pieces, still work to do,but what I did like we controlled the game for long periods of the second half and never looked like conceding, although it was only Ipswich. Onwards and upwards

Not just this game. Many times in recent years, eg luton last season, were sloppy with passes, outfought in tackles, cumbersome in play. Thats down to attitude, its ipswich well win anyway. For 45 mins our lads were cleaned in tackles, 2nd balls etc. Coincidence when the bosz had them for 15 mins we were a differdnt team?

You might not agree but id be happy to wager now youll see it again a few times ( forest, palace southampton) but well be on it v city arsenal chelsea etc

Hindisght suffices but you just need to calm down and stop being a cry hard bi*ch when we're not 4-0 up inside 20 minutes.

First half they were well up for it as you would expect, they should have been down to ten, another glaring error by dozy officials. Once the boss man tweaked it at ht there was only going to be one winner. The only downside was it should have been four or five. Onwards and upwards.

It was poor and we didn't get much going, nothing more nothing less. We all knew this at HT. Arne said as much after the game. Credit also has to be given to the opposition, Ipswich did well for as long as they could.

Can never watch those 12.30 Saturdays they like the plonk us on with being in work but just caught up on the highlights.

The chance for Diaz he flicked over the bar a real mess and Jota should have scored before he did.

In the end though the 2 main forwards bagged. Really hope Jota stays fit because if Diaz and Nunez start playing together we are in trouble for goals and Mo will have to do all the heavy lifting.

Bit of a boring first half but the second half we put things right. Gave Trent motm, he was a Rolls Royce out there. Shout out to Salah and Grav and Dom was really good second half. If I’m honest I’m playing Gakpo ahead of Diaz. Diaz gets himself in good spots but never seems to be able to pull off the finish.

That’s all about nothing though, can’t complain about 2-0 first game under a new manager. Good to get the points and the hope is we just get better and that second half becomes the norm for the entire game.
