      Gteat everyones in good form

But if that teams attitude doesnt change the good form wont last long

Attitude in any sport is huge. And for a long time the attitude of too many of our lads is ah its only ipswich, burnley, watford etc....that firat half today stunk of it. Won no 2nd balls no 50 50s. Yes you allow that they are on a high but the players should expect that

2nd half, half time bolloking/talking to sort it??, we were what you would expect us to be. Maybe a tactical tweek helped also.

      Any word on Quansah, injury?

Quansah won 50% of his duels.
      Konate won 75%.

Quansah is a great young player it won't hurt him to be subbed if he isn't quite doing as the manager wants

Well if you plan to watch the game back in full, I'd recommend just watching the 2nd half twice over. You're welcome

Looks as if Slot expects the highest standard possible from the squad and that every man will be treated equally. The only exception I'd make to that rule is for strikers. Jota being a prime example. He could miss open goals but nail a half chance at any point. Slot is obviously aware that strikers don't convert every chance and sometimes you give them the benefit.

Handling the strikers and them staying fit could be the making off our season.

Surprised how inept LFC was against Ipswich's high press in the 1st half. LFC had no answers.

Also troubled how none of LFC's many corner kicks in the first half ever found a LFC forehead....None.

Loved Diaz driving to the goal line time after time and looking for crossers and trailers.
Loved Salah's unselfishness and perfectly weighted crosser to Jota.
Loved LFC's looking for cutters through the middle and Szobo excelled in the 2nd half.

I've been waiting for this attack style for several years and only hope this new Slot Attack is as effective vs better competition.

Not completely true, we ended up in some very good positions driving at their back line first half.....final ball often let us down, but yes there were times when we played ourselves into trouble from their high press, something we've also seen a few times in pre-season. This is the style.

They were playing with high intensity and being extremely physical, but that can wear you down if you try to play that way for long periods.  Ultimately, their high-intensity approach caught up with them and when the energy dropped off, they couldn't cope with our quality.

I actually thought watching the game we stood up to their physical game well and matched them, ref blew up a few times for strong challenges we were making, they were going to ground a little easily on occasions but yes ultimately our class prevailed and the longer the game went on you could see it was a top Prem side v a top Championship side.

We were almost the epitome of the old cliche ā€œitā€™s a game of two halvesā€ yesterday.

First half we were slow, lethargic and sloppy with the ball but second half was the complete opposite. We moved the ball, and ourselves, a lot quicker and poor old Ipswich couldnā€™t handle us.

I also wonder if the decision to bring Konate on was for his pace to cover Trent moving into midfield, which he didnā€™t do much of in the first half but was constantly there in the second half.

Always great to start with a win and a clean sheet as well. For a time we were top of the table but Brighton have since taken that off us - but itā€™s put Everton bottom of the pile so itā€™s alright for now.

Hopefully the start of a really special season.

New season, new era but still the same inept officiating as Burns should have been sent off for a blatant handball but thatā€™s to be expected with this League.

Alisson - had little to do other than one save from the Greaves header, which he comfortably held. Another clean sheet to his name.

Alexander-Arnold - didnā€™t do much first half but ran the show in the second until he was brought off. Great ball for Salah to set up the first. Maybe could have done a bit better with the effort he had from the edge of the box.

Quansah - a little unlucky to be the one who had to make way as I thought he was our best player in the first half but maybe when he got skinned on the right towards the end showed Slot that his lack of pace meant a switch was needed if we wanted Trent to play more in midfield.

Van Dijk - didnā€™t grab any headlines with a great performance but he was solid and dependable in typical Virgil fashion.

Robertson - was the worst performer in a Red shirt in the first half, really off the pace. Second half was a slight improvement but still didnā€™t look as good as we know he can be.

Szoboszlai - was poor in the first half but second half was a different player. Some lovely touches, clever passes and was linking defence to attack the way we need to him to.

Gravenberch - looked fairly comfortable as the holding midfielder, couple of good challenges. Not sure he was as good as some are making out but he was good.

Mac Allister - was rather invisible for most of the game. Expecting big things from him this season but yesterday didnā€™t deliver. Even when the rest of the side improved second half, he was still a step behind.

Salah - goal, assist and a persistent pest for the Ipswich back line. New season, new era, same Mo.

Jota - just as well he scored when he did because otherwise heā€™d be getting slaughtered for missing that header. Probably had our best moment in the first half as well with that turn on the halfway line.

Diaz - plenty of hard work from Lucio but the final bit wasnā€™t there for him yesterday, whether that be the cross or the shot. But Ipswich couldnā€™t get near him.

Konate - solid show from the big man, didnā€™t have too much defending do but what he did was done with minimal fuss.

Bradley - nice ten to fifteen minute cameo from the young lad. Got up the right wing and was just breezing past their players.

Tsimikas - didnā€™t have much time to influence the game and the way Robbo was playing can probably feel a bit aggrieved that he didnā€™t get on earlier.

Gakpo - came on and got booked. Very little else.

Overall a good start to the season and the Arne Slot reign. Obviously a couple of players not up to speed just yet and a few teething problems with how Slot wants us to play but for an opening game, three points, a clean sheet and a really good 45 minutes will do.

Onto Brentford next week to keep the good start going.

      Well in Reds!

      Well in Reds!

Canā€™t add much to Billyā€™s excellent summing up, first half wasnā€™t great but I didnā€™t expect us to be, rustiness and finding feet in a new system and a Ipswich team wanting to impress and perhaps catch us with our pants down enthusiasm,

Second half was impressive to say the least, looks like Arne wants us to consistently aggressive but still retain solidity in defence, Grav has grabbed his opportunity as DM and looks the part, thought he was excellent yesterday and will only get better, while young Jarell didnā€™t do too much wrong i think Billy is spot on, Konate on to provide cover for the more advanced Trent, and the subsequent linking up with Szloboslai, thought our intricate playing between the lines was very good, ball retention and movement was superb, and again will improve as we go on, usually takes about 6 or 7 games to get up to speed in a new season but the way we played that second half itā€™s not going to be that long imo,

Great start for Arne, good start for us, 3 points clean sheet with masses of room for improvement,

Got the Bees next and Iā€™m already buzzin !! 🤪

Quansah is a great young player it won't hurt him to be subbed if he isn't quite doing as the manager wants

Talking about attitudes. Quansa was getting really rattled and wasn't coping well with their big lads up top. Seemed to be always moaning about something instead of changing his game to suit. Good sub under the circumstances. He'll learn from it,  only get better.

The only issue I had with the HT sub was that Robbo didn't go off with Quansah.
I know he is a slow starter most seasons but his touch was off and he was, for me, the worst player in that opening game.
