Paletta was Argentinian when he played for Liverpool.

So Padelli was the first Italian to play for Livepool I guess.
I missed him when I was looking at players yesterday.

Padelli signed for Liverpool for a three month loan on 12 January 2007. His only game came on 13 May 2007 against Charlton Athletic. During the game he conceded two goals, which ended in a draw. He was the first Italian to play for Liverpool. His loan deal ended on 8 June 2007.

This deal is much like the Shiquri deal a few years ago when a player with good ability for a very cheap price becomes available. Considering we were going after Gordon this is a like the cheaper alternative that fell on our lap as their profile as players are similar (pacey and direct).
