Iām not defending what Cantona did, he served his punishment. You making comparableās is laughable. If you want to defend a snake you do it, many of your own fans will disagree who rightly class KK one of the best if not the best and your happy to have him as a legend after what he did is your call, a very embarrassing one at that.
I'm not saying that Suarez didn't let LFC down, of course he did ... what I'm saying is that Cantona did the same with United (Ferguson wanted to sack Cantona initially after Selhurst Park, it was only because of United's lawyers that he wasn't sacked). Suarez and Cantona were both brilliant footballers whose conduct massively let both clubs down on occasions
The whole 'trying to leave' argument is flawed. Cantona played for United in a time where players had nowhere near the levels of sway that they held when Suarez played for us: Bosman was in 1995 (same year as Selhurst) so saying that Cantona didn't try to leave but Suarez did is, well, comparing apples with pears: player-power was in its infancy back then.
At the end of the day, the thread is asking about top Liverpool players ... it's not asking who was the politest LFC player, or who was the best-behaved LFC player. If you're going to leave out Suarez because of how he behaved then it would be hypocritical to not do the same for Cantona when asnwering the same question for United.
