Salah isn't getting younger but still handful for so many players. He is suitable for counter attacks but we are switching to possession based game. He should improve on his short through balls..

Gravenberch, Vvd and Gakpo were on fire.

Mac Allister is not serious but Allison's injury is.

7 games 4 goals and 4 assists. If people could finish you could add to the assists total as well.

What do people want from Salah ffs. He is still our best attacker. He will get 20 goals plus again and plenty of assists.

Salah is as guilty as anyone when it comes to finishing chances. How many chances has he missed that would see others with better goal involvements?

7 games 4 goals and 4 assists is good but you also have to acknowledge the other side? 4 big chances missed. Loses the ball more than anyone else, dispossessed countless times on the break, barely manages to beat his man so all these things are leading to our overall game and the poor performances.

He has had a great start to the season

Would seem so, especially if all you've got is "7 games 4 goals 4 assists" and someone else had a detailed account of what he does game by game.

I think you can look at it both ways

One can say his stats speak for themselves but others may say well he gets so many chances

      But I see others like
Jota missing absolute sitters week in and week out since the start of the season

Pretty sure Diaz has missed from 2 yards out with jota too

Salah is still more most prolific scorer imo and he creates so much these days

He is proper world class and should start every game

His ball control at times can be sloppy but that’s always been the case

Personally for me his world class days are over but then again everyone has a different definition to what constitutes a player holding that title, Ali and Virg only ones left in the squad who are world class because they're at the top of their game every game.

In games he's scoring/assisting you can turn a blind eye, games like Forest, Wolves, Milan and today he just looks terrible.

I would agree if he doesn’t score or assist then he will look bang average but thing is that be is pretty much averaging a goal or assist per game

Also feel he’s trying to be less selfish too to improve his game, he was tracking back a lot today from what I saw

I think if the chances fell to him, we would have scored more

That reads like a petty accurate analysis of Salah so far this season. For many his record (which is undeniably outstanding) seems to put him above any criticism. But exactly the same as every other player....He isn't.

Yeah he was fcuking dreadful against milan wasnt he. He played great in that game. Hit the woodwork twice and forced a couple of great saves from the keeper.

7 games 4 goals 4 assists. People whinging and going on about federico 'hopefully he can be back soon/play like he did 3 years ago' chiesa. Geez he has had almost as many absences already as salah has had in 8 years.

Salah is the fall guy whenever its not going well, because almost by himself he has carried us on his back in goals and assists since day one.

Its about fcuking time others started carrying the load. The midfield for example. They all need to score more and contribute more.

Trent needs to do more other than dream of madrid and lose the ball in dangerous areas and get bypassed like a statue every fuking week without critique.

Salah is doing just fine. When he leaves lets see what chiesa  can do (wont be much) ... or we will talk a great game for the dortmund kid and then cry off when told he will cost actual money like we did will bellingham and many others.

      Get off Salah's back.

Quite right - as far as I see the season so far, Mo is part of an attacking unit that has got us 9 wins out of ten.  They've all missed chances - forwards always will.  As long as we create enough chances we'll get the goals.  Sometimes we'll create tons of chances and won't score, but that was the same under Jûrgen (when Mo was younger, if you like - in his prime).

I think Mo is wise enough to realize he's getting older and he's adapting his game accordingly.  He needs his team mates too (like Trent's off the ball run that created space for Mo to score against Bologna).

It's true about midfield too - we miss those goals from the likes of Georgie Wijnadam and Hendo.

The big blank so far has been Darwin who still needs to master the art of staying onside.  I'm not jumping on his back either - he's had precious little game time - but this season he really does need to come out and prove he's worth the £80 odd million we paid.

Mo cost us a third of that and he's still far and away our best striker.

Unless something anyone says can be proven (A Fact, as in factual) then it will be an opinion, an opinion can't be right or wrong....it might be fanciful and outside of conventional opinion...but it still a valid opinion, and I, (like everyone else of this forum), am free to say what the F I want to say.
I'll state two opinions now: First, Salah is still a very good footballer, and an asset to the club. Second, Salah appears to me to be past his best, the single factor for his slight decline being his noticeable loss of pace. The player has performed to a consistently high standard for many years, and it is because he's played so well, for so long, that any degree of drop off is noticeable. If anyone wants to say they perceive a drop off then that's their call, it doesn't mean they think he's totally crap...it just means he's been comparatively poor (to what we are used to).

As for Chiesa, time will tell, for what it's worth (which is nothing)...(warning opinion incoming)..I don't particularly rate him...but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Gotta say I find it baffling that here we are top of the League, winning yet again and divvies wanna argue that our top goalscorer isn't good enough any more. Some of those divvies are actually the ones crying the most that his contract runs out next summer as well. But there you go, that's divvies for you.

As for the game, a tough win away from home. But one that we came through, without ever really breaking sweat. It was made much more difficult than it should have been due to Jota deciding to fluff his lines with two absolute sitters and other opportunities that we played one too many passes with. But ultimately, we grabbed all three points.

Defensively we were strong but still gifted them a fair few chances. The one just before half-time was their best in my opinion though Eze's one on one with Jaros was another really good chance that they failed to take. Bit of a dodgy start from us with them scoring but was clearly offside.

Was extremely happy for Jaros to make a couple of saves. Must have come off that pitch feeling ten foot tall, knowing he'd played a big part on his, unexpected, debut. Our fourth Czech mate to play for our great club.

Go into the international break, sitting pretty at the top of the League.

Alisson - made a couple of saves, most of which he should be making. Like I said before the one just before half-time was the only one I thought was a really good save. The others were fairly straight forward that a top keeper should be making. Hopefully the injury doesn't keep him out too long, even though it looks like we have two competent keepers to replace him, you still want your first choice XI out there as much as possible.

Alexander-Arnold - was a bit sloppy with the ball at times, trying too hard to play the flashy pass. Defensively though, he kept Eze quiet for the most part and that's no easy task. And ultimately, a right back should be judged on his defensive display than anything else so I think Trent can be fairly happy with how he played.

Konate - what a F***ing tank this man is. He just continues to be a rock at the back and his partnership with Van Dijk remains one of the most underrated in world football. Virg will always get the praise because he's Virg but his partner deserves just as much. I think playing Nketiah instead of Mateta helped us, especially as we kept forcing Palace to go long and Ibou and Virg are gonna eat up everything against Nketiah in the air.

Van Dijk - basically the same as above. Boss.

Tsimikas - looked nervy to begin with and after five minutes I turned to me arl fella and said I'd take him off. But played a lovely pass into Gakpo for what lead to the opening goal and his performance improved gradually. Don't think he's done enough to trouble Robbo but a decent enough understudy.

Jones - don't think I can recall him doing too much other than giving away a number of fouls in the first half. Games just seem to pass him by on a regular basis. And that can't be the case because there is a position in our midfield three that's up for grabs.

Gravenberch - another incredible showing from the lad. It's now up to the opposition teams to work out how to stop him taking it on the half-turn and letting him stretch his legs through the middle of the park. Because if they don;t, then this lad is gonna run the show every week. Massive credit to Arne as well because he saw something in Grav that few of us thought about.

Mac Allister - a fairly quiet game from Mac before being taken off at half-time. An injury might not be the worse thing for him right now to give him a couple of weeks without football as he looks knackered.

Salah - for much of the first half, our out ball was the long diagonal from Van Dijk to Mo. Wasn't at his productive best but still a pest to the Palace backline. Missed a very good chance to put the game to bed.

Jota - is very fortunate that he did score the goal because the two missed chances were shocking. A bit like the opening game against Ipswich, he missed a straight forward header but got the goal and that is what a centre forward will be judged upon. The finish he did score was very pleasing on the eye. His determination to get to the ball first.

Gakpo - another impressive showing from Cody who is proving his worth once again this season. He's sort of flitted in and out of form during his Liverpool career but so far this season has hit the consistency button. The form of both him and Diaz is pushing the other to greater levels in order to get the nod for the left wing slot.

Szoboszlai - a bit like Jones and Mac Allister, there was little of note from Szoboszlai.

Diaz - plenty of hardwork as you expect from Lucho. Replaced Mo on the right wing but was naturally ending up on the left more often than not. Like most of the forwards yesterday, had moments to put the game to bed and didn't which kept us a bit more nervous than we'd of liked but there you go.

Jaros - he can tell the world that he's played for the biggest club in the world now. And he kept a clean sheet on his debut, making a couple of decent saves to aid us on our victory. Would have been shitting himself coming on and would have left the pitch feeling boss. Well in kid.

Robertson - was genuinely pissing me off with how far he was pushing forward late on in the game. Just hold your position Robbo. We're one up in a game that we need to win, so just stay at left back and make sure that there's no danger in behind you. Thankfully, it didn't cost us. And it might just be my mindset not moving with the times where full backs are more than defenders nowadays.

Endo - still has a 100% record ths season. Four appearances, four wins.

Overall it was a scrappy win but had we taken our chances, it'd have been another four or five. Either way, you only get three points for a win no matter how many you score.

I wouldn't say we ground out the win because, like I said, we could have won by a cricket score. But an ugly win isn't a bad thing, proves we can get the job done without being at our clinical best.

Top of the League for at least another two weeks. And next up is "our first real big test" (again) against Chelsea. Win that and tick another one off.

      Well in Reds.

Were you in with the away end? I would say hope you enjoyed it but......yeah......even the atmosphere felt mostly flat until Palace started getting their tails up in the last 15-20mins.

There really is no comparison between Salah and Diaz when it comes to their off the ball/defensive work, just like there isn't a comparison between the 2 when it comes to goals/assists.....however when you're getting the nod to start, you're not scoring and you're not creating....you simply have to find other means to have a positive influence, Mo didn't today and I think that's the reason Arne decided to take him off.

I was in with the home fans but yes very quiet in the first half especially - I couldn't believe how poor they were.

7 games 4 goals and 4 assists. If people could finish you could add to the assists total as well.

What do people want from Salah ffs. He is still our best attacker. He will get 20 goals plus again and plenty of assists.

It's years now since he was consistently world class in back to back games. When he does score it is usually when we are already winning or have won the game.
