We need our strikers to step up, Gakpo, Diaz, Salah or Nunez need to really step up and score as soon as they can. We cannot afford to let chance decide this game.

Always the F***ing same - teams having a woeful time of it come to Anfield and play out of their skin, whether it’s over confidence or the opposition upping their game the chance of an upset is there!

This City team isn't one to be terrified in. We are the much scarier team. Were also much more organized at the back and in the center of the park. Their D is dreadful this season. Rodri being gone has taken away the control they have in the center and Dias being out really weakens the structure at the back. KDB isn't the same amd I'd actually like it if he starts, rather than come off the bench. He's got nothing left in his legs.

Haaland and Foden are always dangerous, but Bernado is ask to do SOO much this season and it looks like it's catching up to him. They will have chances and Konate being gone is a big miss, maie no mistake about it. But they are very unathletic these days and if we take our chances we win this. If we don't win it will be because of us, not them. That hasn't ever been the case with us playing a Pep side until this week

Only bad result is a loss. If we win it's a massive kick in the balls for them. If we lose it gives them hope and allows some.doubt to creep in, along with a busy period without several keys players

Fairly sure Joe will come in for Ibou. Trent at RB. Net quality shouldn't be too different and hopefully the changes don't disrupt our rhythm. City will have had the extra day's rest but we've got home advantage and the mental edge. If someone could just take that big gangly cheaty wages c*nt of theirs out of the equation I'd feel really confident but as it is I think it will be a close game, 1-0 to the redmen.

Funny. He got dragged off at ipswich because he couldnt win any duals and consistently lost the ball or gave it away. Positional play was awful and slot rightly took him off. He has alot to learn.

Joe can be bullied in ways Ibou and Virg cannot. Our next 3 games we come up against some physical forwards.

Haaland gets no change usually out of our back line but he's bang in the game now.

Isak is a handful and a finisher who only needs half a chance to put one away.

Calvert Lewin gave us a torrid game last time we played them and dominated our centre halves in a deserved Everton win to kill off our title hopes.

Forget Saliba and Gabriel. Virg and Ibou are the best centre half partnership in the division and the band has just been broken up.

Plenty of games to go around but we need to learn to trust them in cup games to do it. Ibou and Virg for PL games and big CL nights but the cups should have gone to Quansah and a new signing to fight with Joe for. Joe should have been used for game time at the end of big matches and emergency cover for either full back.

I have faith in Joe. Was excellent last season.Played across the back 4, even in midfield and has great experience. He is more than capable of stepping up. Slight issue is that if Slot thinks Trent is not fully match fit he could go Joe at RB and Quanny in with VVD. Kells once again will be a vital player. Hardly a fag paper between him and Alisson.

But that’s not true though, he stood up well and he actually won more duels than the whole back 4 that first half (Robbo and Trent only won 1 each and they played at least 70mins), there was 1 duel in particular (we all remember it) right at the end of the half which he lost and that was it for him. Completed 25/28 of his passes too so no he didn’t “consistently give it away”, the only thing that’s funny is how much drivel you can conjure up in 1 post.

A bit part fullback is what Klopp deemed him to be all of last season because he was couldn’t be trusted to start at CB because of all the brainfarts that were costing us.

Given his performance against Brighton, coming in from the cold, I think that Gomez deserves the nod to start this one at CB.

But given the fitness issues of Trent & Bradley, he may be needed at RB. And quite possibly LB later on given the number of games Robbo has played lately and his latest issues with looking leggy. Like it's not entirely impossible that Gomez starts at CB and finishes the game at RB or LB. Possibly all 3!

Jones has being playing great lately but I think that this is a game for Szobozlai with his direct running game. Really press and eat into Man City's deficiencies in midfield when up against direct running and pace through the middle.

For the same reason that Szobozlai starts, I think Nunez will too. Replicate his first half performance from midweek if possible.

Man City's results lately should certainly not gloss over their attacking performances. They have been creating loads but Haaland is not finishing them off. Something to be wary of.

Lots of City fans are predicting a heavy loss, but I see no reason to be complacent. They should have been three nil up v Spurs in the first fifteen minutes, and we are slow starters under Slot. So what do you think Peps take on this will be. Will he go full bore and high press and really go for it. At the same time leaving them open to our swift counters. Or do you think he may sit deeper endplay for a draw with a long shot of a quick counter and snatch the win ?
Ive a feeling he may go for the latter. A draw against the top side, away from home, might be just enough for him to stop the rot mentally.
They'll always have a chance to snatch one with that creature up top, so sitting deeper and playing longer balls up to him may be his plan, but can his players implement it, as they're not real trained to play that way.

I think most, including Pep, will believe an 11-point gap is too much to claw back. It's not impossible by any stretch, but it needs us to lose four games while they win four games - so a four-game turnaround. While we could lose four, or more games from now until season's end, I believe City will also lose more games before the season's over. With a fit squad and confidence, I wouldn't put it past City to close the gap, but they are not that team anymore, at least not right now.

Do they go for it or play it safe? With their injuries, being away from home, and us in good form, I think they'll try to keep it tight and nick one on the break. I expect us to have a lot of possession in their half. We have to contain Harland, though. Gutted we lost Konate in the last few seconds of the Madrid game.

I think we win today by the odd goal, but I wouldn't be gutted with a draw, because we at least maintain our 8-point gap.

That's the other issue, they might see this game as a turning point in their season. No better place to reinstate yourself as top dog and regain confidence.

Well Jack..(or is it Earnest)..would like Nunez to start.Yes they will wind him up but he is a handful. Granted he hasn't scored enough, only 2 prem this season but he offers much more. my front 3 Mo, Nunez,Diaz. But Diaz and Gakpo play well as a pair and interchange so it's a good shout and it could be the way to go. Depends obviously how Slot sees it. Close call.

A win today would obviously be massive. A loss would be a bit of a shocker and a draw would be fine.

A gap off 11 or 8 to them is quite significant. A gap of 5 not so much.
