Did not see the game, although a win is a win, taking all three points and through to the next stage of the competition.

Brilliant achievement to have maximum points !

Switched on at quarter to 8 only to find the game was over. Fuckity F**k.

How come Mac didn't play? He's suspended against Fulham ain't he? Thought we'd play him and rest Grav.

Suspended for both, otherwise he would've played.....as well as Grav.

We were poor, the commentary on TNT was really so innacurate I thought I was going nuts. It's the weakest we have ever been out of possession, everyone so slow to attack the ball. At least it was the right time to have a bad game, and we snuck an undeserved win. First half v Ipswich, v Forest the only times we were worse. And it was so unexpected given the rest, training opportunities and the strong team we put out.

Yep we have secured top 8 with this win so no play offs.  5 Clean sheet in the champions league so far it has been absolutely brilliant so far.   If we want we can heavily rotate in our next 2 fixtures.

We are through to the knockouts, but yet to confirm being straight through to the round of 16. May well be confirmed after tonight's fixtures. The problem with this one big group is you have to go through all the fixtures to see who has who left to then work out what the maximum each team could get. Will just wait for it to be confirmed rather than look at the other teams and work it out as was the case when it was a group of four.

At £2M per win in this league phase I don't think we will be resting our first XI for any of these games.

Correct that is what it's all about

Great three points and move on but we need to improve for next Saturday.

Arse was frustrated with our tempo and pressing. It looked that our players were not pumped up for this team knowing how long the season is.

The keeper showed how good he is!

Great to get the three points and remain undefeated, but the performance wasn’t great.
I fear our form is slowly dropping off, like it did at the end of last season.
Need to improve on Saturday or it could all go pearshaped before long 😱

Think you're reading too much into it personally, was it really any different to how we played earlier in the season? Ipswich, Brentford, Palace, Wolves? We've only really shown a step up in class in the home games against the big boys.

I think we’ve looked a little ropey away from home lately but still managed 7 points out of the last 9 so not terrible.

I think Slot knows this is the time we need to find another couple of gears to keep this good start going given his post match interview.

Missed this one but didn’t miss a lot by the sounds of things, main point is though we got the win, how many times have we won ugly in the past ?
Usually when you have extra time off due to postponements or whatever yer team plays better, it’s fresher, but maybe on this occasion it had a adverse effect, a bit rusty if you want, weird as that is, maybe we have to keep the wheels rolling to obtain optimal performance, so that wee day off caused us to be a bit stodgy,

Anyhoo, who the F**k cares we f***in won, Ali is back as too is Harvey, and Jota won’t be far behind, so more positive energy added, with the Mad season all but a week or so away apart from Ibou, Chiesa, we’ll have a fully fit squad to attack the League with, Fulham on Saturday kicks us off, followed by Spuds away Dec 22, Home to Leicester 26th, Hammers away 29th, Scummy Fuckpig Muther Fuckers 5th Jan,

Out of those five, can you see any of them doing us over ? 15 potential points up for grabs, without sounding too arrogant I’d be ecstatic with 13, only sticky part being the Scummy F**k pig Muther Fuckers, cos it’s them, a draw would be a result for them,

That takes into January…Forest away 14th, Brentford away, 18th, Home to Ipswich 25th, so it’s not a bad run to take us into Feb, hypothetically we win all of those it’s hard to imagine we’ll be caught, of course anything can happen in the interim and it could all go Tits up, honestly can’t see that happening , but never say never in football??

Looks good though doesn’t it ??

We haven't, we just didn't look arsed yesterday.

Newcastle was the same old, slow start then dominated.

Had both wins in our hands.

So you reckon it's the team only being capable of physically playing one half of football?

It's mentality and motivation. Look at Southampton, exact same first half....then came along the 2 big boys and we got motivated for it - entire domination and control, that's all it is. Treat every game like it's a City or Madrid.

City and Madrid were easier games than Newcastle though. The first two, at home, against depleted midfields who were devoid of any muscle (Kovacic and Rodri for the former, Tchouameni and subsequently Camavinga for the latter). We were able to dominate midfield in both, and in the latter especially so when Camavinga went off injured. Mac looked the best he's been all season in the latter as with little resistance in midfield he was able to camp deep in their half, his favoured number 10 role, and dictate.

The Newcastle game, away, and against a very mobile, athletic midfield trio of Tonali, Guimaraes and Joelintin, were too much for our midfield trio of Curtis, Mac and Grav, the same three who struggled at Arsenal in the last two fixtures there. They were first to most challenges, and as a team ran 75k to our 71k. Dom starting, although probably knackered after his exploits vs City, would have given us more of a foothold at Newcastle, just as he did when he came in at Arsenal this season.

The wins vs City and Madrid looked good on paper, but we've had harder games this season (Brighton who ran us ragged being another), and will have harder games this season.

Definitely so in the Newcastle game. When a team outruns you, and by a fair margin, wins most 50/50s, and you concede 17 shots (while having 16), have a greater xG, it was a worry. Slot talked about intensity being an issue after the game, but did give credit to the subs (Dom, Luis and Trent, three players with energy that ideally would have started had they been fully fit/rested) for their impact on the game. The midfield three we started with (Mac, jones, Grav) I don't like for tough games away from home. You have to match the home side for intensity and energy, and we were second best until the last half hour, aided enormously by the subs. Grav lost his runner in the build up for their second and was rightly replaced. Ultimately we need an extra midfielder brought in in January as Slot has talked about "our 4 main midfielders", but having just 4 for 3 spots over a long season is not enough. We were short one in the summer when we tried ti buy one and that remains.

The game last night it's much harder to judge as it could be (at least I hope so) that we are in such a commanding position in terms of qualification that the players were not close to getting out of second gear. There are much bigger tests ahead, including every PL game.

So long as we are at it vs Fulham then we can rest easy its not a trend.
